FAt Engine Problems
alrightyyyy... so i am new tot he site. Looking forward to getting my 240 goin.
So pickd i picked up my s14 about 6 months ago... Its had an engine light on for a while. It would rarly die on me no reason sometimes. But nowwwww its gotten worse. Started to throw codes. The codes i got was for the evap valve. The car runs fine when cold. when it gets really warm is when it acts up. Its bogs out when I apply gas but at higher speeds its alright when im just cruizn. When i pound on it she bogs out and the tach goes crazy. When i come to a stop i have rev it up a bit so she doesnt die. It used to be worse. To really get down to it i replaced the distributer, maf, rear o2 sensor, new k&n air filter, spark plugs, and new plug wires. after i replaced all that the car ran a lot smoother and i got insanly better gas but it still bogs out when its warm. has 130xxx miles on it. There is a low ticking sound coming from front of motor. i believe its either the timing chain or tensiors. But honeslty i dont think that problem being fixed when get rid of my current one. Could it possibly be a vacum leak? I have no idea how to check for vacum leaks or nor what to look at or what to buy. if someone could please help me out. anything can help!! |

Ghetto way to check for vacuum leaks is to turn the car on and let it idle then spray contact/brake cleaner in the areas u think are leaking. When the idle drops down then u have found your leak. The legit way is to use a machine that will detect the leaks but they are $$$$$$
