Weird swap question

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I'm looking to drop a BMW 740iL engine into my S13 and I already know I'd need the 6-speed from a 530i, etc and issues with OBD wiring etc.

The main question I have is about the driveshaft, etc - Does anyone know any good shops in SoCal for a custom driveshaft for something like this? I'm looking to start it when I get my tax returns so I've got a few months to look around still.

Do your driveline alignment perfectly first. Then call the Driveshaft Shop for further guidance.

who ever flames you for putting in a bmw engine is fucking dumb!

the only driveshaft shops i know of are in south san diego. they mostly do domestics but a driveshaft is a driveshaft.

wouldnt you mean the 6-speed from the 540i?

and youre going to put an M60 in a 240? which version, the B30 or B40? the B40 isnt bad on power (280 factory), but 280 is easy to get out of a sr, which would go in way easier...

My $.02 is that if you are doing this to be different then knock your bad self out and best of luck to you But if you're thinking about swapping to get "v8 power" you might want to consider something else. The M60 series engines are not well supported in the aftermarket and take up way more space in the engine compartment due to the OHC layout as opposed to OHV style v8s which equals more headaches. I'm not trying to tell you no, I'm just saying be aware of the downsides to doing this so you don't end up broke and disappointed.

-Cheers

I would imagine the actual swap would be pretty straight forward with custom mounts etc. I would believe the wiring would be the most difficult part, mainly just mating the harness to the chassis harness etc

I'm looking to do it to be different, don't care too much about power, I know it'll definitely put down more than the stock KA. Yeah, I mean the 6-speed from the 540, I was typing a bit quick when I posted. From what I've been told, it would be the M60 engine. This whole build is probably going to end up being a junkyard build, but I'll definitely start making updates when I get it rolling. Gotta go to the junkyard and find the engine this week.
