heat issues

i have a stock ka24de and when its cold my car doesnt heat up, or the temp gauge doesnt show, and the heat doesnt work. buttt when the motor is under strain, i.e. if i go out sliding then the temp gauge will show the temp being around normal operating temp, and the heat works. How can i fix this to get heat ALL the time.

check the engine temp sensor unit, it might need replacing.

also might try the thermostat.

First thing that came to mind was "this kid probably isn't even running a thermostat."

Its still cold as fuck... have you actually gotten under the hood and felt the hoses to see if coolant is moving through them and its not just your gauge messing up?
