hey guys,

if i were to make a gasket for my inspection cover of my gas tank, does it need to be a solid ring? or can i make a ring and cut it so i can slip it underthe cap without taking apart anything. If i cut it, will it seal? also should i use silicon on the gasket to keep it in place or is the tightness of the cap enough
