Z32 MAF Question
So bought an SR20DET 240sx and it already had a Z32 maf wired up to it. After rebuilding the engine and getting other misc parts to make it run right I'm down to the MAF screwing everything up and can't find a stock one...So I'm curious if I can fabricate something to slip into the MAF to reduce the inner diameter so that it's the same as the stock MAF and will meter air correctly? Or will it throw it completely off because the Z32 MAF itself is designed to meter a certain amount of air in a certain size orifice...? Never really delved into the engineering of a MAF before.

The second half is correct. The maf isn't really made to be altered from its current state. Find an sohc maf and you can rewire it to work if you need a stock one.

Open your ecu, see if there's a daughter board, or provisions for one? You also have to be specific about what year sr20det.
That's because the thread question can be answered, but its not a solution for your problem. It just give you more questions to ask and or answer. For example ?1 no! ?2 yes You can make the AFR readings more rich or lean by changing the diameter of the pipe, but the vq map will be wrong and thus the wrong k and probably go KaBlam! I can't find either a SR or a KA maf for sale, that's another problem. But initially the car had a SAFC which is why the Z32 had worked in the past (maybe...I did buy it with a spun rod bearing). I'm just ready to get the car running without worrying about it blowing up on me

And a little more background, since I got the car I've bought new harness, ECU, CAS, and coils. Pretty sure I didn't get lucky enough to buy a ECU from JDM with a daughterboard already on it.

I'll ask the questions for you. Do you have an s13, s14 or s15 sr20det? Redtop or blacktop? Did you buy the correct harness? Hmmm j4 ecu perhaps?
People generally don't care, if you need the part or not. They will sell anything. And you're setting yourself up for someone to sell you something that may not work, why because your shit never worked.

Okay so yes I set myself up, bought the car with a S13 SR20DET only to find out that it is actually a SR20DE+T...ran like complete garbage once I rebuilt it and not sure how it ran for the previous owner, might have been why he blew the engine since all the guy did was cut corners. So it HAD a SAFC which is why i'm guessing he got away with the Z32 MAF and T28 turbo since there were no other mods done to the ECU or car. So I dumped the money on the #62 ECU and harness, ignitor and coil packs, and the MAF is the last thing I need to HOPEFULLY get it running right since in the rebuild process it looks like everything else is right for the DET (pump, injectors, etc.)
