Asking for DD 240 Owners Input

Hey guys, looking at tires right now and ive settled on getting some yokohama s drives but I just want someone else .02 on this tire setup. I feel like I can get away with it since I baby my car, dont slide it or beat it. Also have some FA500s just waiting to put them in along with new shoes. Running 7/6 spring rates so it should be a fairly easy and comfortable drive. Dont slide the car or beat every time I drive.

I've already order some 18x9.5 wheels te37 style. Tried getting the real deal and cheapest ive looked in months on YAJ was 15 without shipping. Being realistic I just dont have or want to spend money like that. I've already spent money else where on quality parts and taking my car as restoration not a drift missile.

For tire setup I was looking to get 225/35 on the 9.5, they will be stretched but looking at another user hear the tires run a bit big and dont seem crazy. Look fairly clean and practical.

Only thing stoping me is how well they will feel and being this is my daily if its a smart idea. I drive about 150 a week working full time with work/school from 8-8 mon-fri. So in a year ill put roughly 9k give or take.

Plan is also run the same setup when I go to swap in another built longblock. Im push 10psi on stock ka on e85. Engine is running great and only issue is chattery puck clutch that ill be going white bunny next time.

Also looking at 245/35 but like with the 225 stretch im not sure how a 35 profile will feel/perform. Im running 195/50 on 15x8 which feel amazing and have tiny stretch.

if your fenders arent rolled, youre gonna have a bad time

also, what offset are you at with those 18x9.5s?

If youre anything over +35, youre gonna have a bitch of a time running wider tires under stock rolled fenders unless you start adding a ton of camber.

i run 17x9.5 +38 in the back on my 240 with 245/40R17 tires. they barely clear my rolled fenders with only -1 deg of camber. im planning on swapping over to 255/40R17 soon, so ill have to add camber BOOOOO!

Oh my bad, they're +12 9.5 all around. I've seen similar setups and they seem to fit nicely on stock body. The previous owner kinda rolled the fenders a bit. Just to get ride of the inner skeleton lip. Since I hate driving super low even on my setup right now its way to low for my liking. I know I can get away with 40 profile on my fenders with -1 degree of camber. I dont want stupid camber anywhere near over -5 degrees

My real concern with this post is it smart or possible to daily on 225s with 9.5 I know all the stance/slammed kids do but they're all slow na 1.8-2.0s. I know my boosted ka inst that much power but it does have a good deal for a daily especially 300whp in a light hatch.

The only other thing is 35 vs 40 profile. Im on 50 and it feels very firm and car stays super planted. I often hit spagehetti exits going 80-90mpg planted with the rear holding nice on the 15x8 with falken 950 which imo amazing tires.

Also I was looking to get maybe some V3 valances in the future! Thats next on my list. After these coils and wheels. Its type x kit and big brakes. After that its build a second block and shoot for 400whp with in the next year or so. Trying to plan out tires for then because you need some good tires for that or its just silly.

Realistically I want it to be sitting like this. Maybe just a tad higher. I think I might go for 245/35 but only thing is I will be spending more on tires than what I got my wheels for... I have the money but already dumped what to much as of right now.

Dude there are 3 threads LOADED with information on this topic. Go do some research.

You got 17x9.5 +12?
You are not going to fit shit for tires without camber. That blue car you just posted is probably 17x9+12 with a 215/45 on it.

Im not asking about fitment and how much to pull fenders. This car will not be any where near close to touching the fender with how high I want it to sit. All of them are already rolled a bit, 18x9.5 +12 is golden all around. I could even get away with +22 10.5 in the rear if I wanted.

Im asking out there from experience from dudes that drive there car daily on how is it driving around with stretched/low profile. All of those threads are guys just posting wheels and specs but no say "well it looks nice but ive popped the bed 3 times the last 6 months driving around" or other extreme where they have 0 issues and its alright.

18x9.5 +12 will REQUIRE at least 3-4 deg of negative camber to fit under stock fenders! sell the wheels, buy something thats in the 9-9.5 +40 to +35 range and run some meaty tires like a man!!! rubber band tires suck!

the ride will be fairly hard and shitty... after switching over to meatier tires on my current S13 (i use to do the stretched tire thing on my last S13 coupe), i find the ride to be much better along with WAY better handling given the tire actually functions properly!

this is my current setup... 17x8.5 +30 225/45R17 upfront and 17x9.5 +38 245/40R17 out back (changing to 235/40R17 and 255/40R17 soon) on -1 deg of camber.

the 245s barely clear the fenders in the rear... my fenders are rolled flat with no pull.

this was my last 240 on 18x9.5 +15 wheels with 225/40R18s all around (i THINK they were 40 series). fenders were rolled flat and slightly pulled in the rear with maxed out camber front and rear.

Dori's post proves my point that 18x9.5 +12 is not "golden all around" with a meaty tire (245/40), no pull, and little camber

240sx +generic wheels
You can probably find every ride height/combo imaginable posted on this website

There was a website some time ago that collected images of different tire size/wheel combos.

This guy is running same specs and just has his front rolled a bit which I already have and the same tire which is 225/40, rears are slightly pulled which I can get done no problem if 9.5+12 doesnt fit. He is also running basically no camber and has no rubbing.

I've spent hours looking at the fitment thread but its just pictures of there setup and wheel specs. No comments on the ride, second opinons, etc. Plus if search some generic phrase like s13 18x9.5 you will get thousands of forsale post for wheels and threads like wheel whore which are 500 pages long.

Im not trying to slam or tuck the car.

I dont need tire/wheel images, I know exactly what my opinons are. I just need driving opinons on whats setups. Of course bigger the proper tire will drive better but how much off it will affect handling by running smaller and lower profile.

Looks like im just going with 18x9.5+12 all around, front will clear if I run 225/40, slight stretch but will be alright. Depending on how high I want the wheel gap is how much camber to run which wont be more than 3 degrees.

This is 225/40 18x9.5+12 front and 245/40 +15 with heavy rear pulling on fender and tucking it.

18x9.5 +12 18x10.5 +15 no spacers, 225/40/18 all around -2.5 rear camber -2 front

This is what im after ^ to the tee. Will be a darker read but same style wheels, color and type x down the line. I can live with -2 of camber, I dont beat on my car so I wont destory tires fast.
