Well with the 80k price tag i would hope it could keep up with your 30k price tag evolution 2.0 liter.. Compared to the 3.4 liter flat six cayman...

[ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=LZtHa8V_MvU[/ame]

For the record if i had the chance to get a porsche or a high end nissan or toyota... I would get a supra or a skyline over any porshce except the gt3.. That's one of my favorite cars.. I wouldn't get the skyline cause it's jdm tyte yo or cause i want to be different and brag i have a skyline... I would get it cause it's a car that i like and would love to have.. Same as the supra... Im not a big fan of euro exotics... No fan boy car lovin goin on here just have a passion for japanese cars... And will stick to it..

they took away alot of the power they were initially intending to put into the car. because it was better than the 911.
seriously. one of THE best handling cars ever made....supposedly. so they had to drop the power way down to leave a significant gap between the boxter/caymen and the 911.

only P car ive driven was the early model cayenne turbo. twin turbo 4.5. 450hp, 460tq. that thing ripped pretty good. and the air suspension was cool. you could lower it like 5" with the press of a button. they now have like 500hp or something crazy..

I always wanted to race one of these guys....the only guy that humored me the past year was a guy in a FORD GT, but we ran into traffic during the pull
that comparo was silly. the best from nissan vs the 'best' from porsche. GT3 is decieving. you would assume its the best 911 you can buy, but its not.
the GT2 is the better car. that video comparo just made people assume that nissan > porsche, now that the new gtr is out.
and i know someone is going to say it. i am well aware that the GT2 is almost 200k. not the point.

but they caymen is alright. kinda ugly though IMO. i would have found something different myself. black/red combo looks good though.

i would say from personal experience that porsche's are all around one of the best cars made. comparing not only to japanese, but also other german sports car nd american sports cars. trust me when i say you drive a turbo and drive anything else, that anything else is just that. that goes for the cayman as well (and the boxtser, as they are basically the same layout). the cayman handles exceptionally well. especially for a stock car. i know it's a sports car and what not, but for what other companies call sport cars, they do not compare to porsche. for instance driving a cobra, or m3, or modified g35 and then get in a carrera s and you'll note the difference. the carrera is just smoother and more linear around corners and in a straight line. and they gas mileage isnt that bad. in a 911 turbo you get 19/22 from the bi-turbo 6 they have. and the guy that rode in the cayanne, the new ones are 500 horse, and the new gts is 405 horse but naturally aspirated, while the turbo is bi-turbo. for suv's those things are ridiculously fast and nimble.

oh and the new gt2 is 505 horse and like 490 torque. which should be pretty fun going to just the rear.

(all my sources come from me working at a porsche dealer)

And feels like a Cadillac

I hate the ham fisted freeling of the C6. I thought the C5 was a little better.

Id rather have an E46 M3 and upgrade it.

my info came from here: http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/911-gt2/

i dont know. i dont like the GTR that much. its not an attractive car, its proportions are all effed up if you ask me. nor is the C6 a genuienly good looking car. the C6, to me, looks like a giant plastic toy. i know you're all going to tell me that it is. but it just looks cheap to me. that is one area, where the germans dominate. they just have excellent taste.

ive said this before. but besides having a subaru wagon for a DD, after my S14, ill prob never drive another japanese car again. hell, i'd drive a powerstroke as a daily if gas was still $1.50/gal. ive just always been a bigger fan of euro cars. cant explain it.

It's hard to find a decent Porsche owner. I've raced my uncle's Boxter. He sold it because he didn't like the comments and looks her got.

The local Porsche Clubs do AutoX right next to the lot where we do SCCA events at Miller park. It's HILARIOUS watching them do their runs. You'll hardly hear a tire squeal. There was a guy with a 944 racing with us in SCCA. i asked him how come he wasn't over there with the Porsche guys. His response was, "I like to actually DRIVE my car." Granted it's just a 944, but still.

Porsche's are are sick cars. I'd LOVE a Turbo or GT3. ONLY if I had a shit load of money. If however I was going to buy one real sports car in the $100k range, it would be a GTR or a Z06. BOTH are by FAR better performance cars per dollar. Any argument against saying the opposite is wrong. Period.

As a status symbol or a panty dropper Porsche is the clear winner.

I care more about bang for my buck though. And I don't need a car as a panty dropper, so....

Caymans are meh IMO, compared to other Porsches.

For me the Boxter says you can't afford/handle a 911.
The 911, I think is awesome. If I were to buy any Porsche, a 996/911 Turbo would be it.

The Cayman slides in between the Boxter & 911 which is what I don't like. It seems as if it was designed just to fill that gap in price and such.

As far as Euro car preference goes, the M3, 911 Turbo, and the Ferrari F288 GTO would sit at the top of the favorites list.

The only thing I don't like about the 997 series is that they share body panels and interior parts with the boxster and cayman. I know Porsche did that to reduce costs but damn If I pay $191k for a GT2 I deserve a unique center console haha

My brother used to work at a Porsche dealer(Pioneer for SD people) and drove each one of them while he worked there. They would send him out to do 50 mile road test cars that were just serviced and would sometimes just swing by my house with Porsches. Pretty cool. The Cayman sucks by the way, thats like one of the low end cars they have.

Even if it isn't faster than a modded 240, driving in a Porsche is just in a totally different league. Get a ride along in a Cup car, shit is bananas.

I think a lot of the reason people buy high end cars is because they want the people to look and there car and feel respected... the feeling is actually pretty nice... Whenever i drive my dads car someone always comes up and asks me what kinda car it is. He now works for Pheonix Motor Cars and gets to drive the Electric SUT its pretty badass

its not the same as driving a high end car but im pretty sure the feeling is about the same =)

^^ ive always thought of porsche's as kind of understated cars for the most part. they arent super flamboyant like the italian cars. i'd say thay sort of, 'fly under the radar'. thats what i like about them. 99% of the time, the are NOT in your face styled. fairly conservative in that department.

i agree, to some extent. but if i had the cash to drop on a real 'super car'. i'd do it too.

but if i had some money, i would be the proud owner of ATLEAST one slantnose 930.

i'd prefer white, because i would have a red 512 testarossa to compliment it. but i wouldnt be too picky.
