strange vibration
Hello I am too this forum. I own a 1993 coupe.
I have this strange vibration, after I take off and get when i reach about 5 mph until about 15 theres a vibration feels like its in the center of the car and right behind the seats. Im thinking its the drive shaft. last week when it first started happening my shifter was bouncing up and down violently. I did some researching and a guy had the exact same issue and his transmission mount ended up being cracked. So i ordered an isis solid transmission mount and installed it but the problem is still there, but the shifter no longer bounces due to no longer having an old worn out mount.. I did more researching and everyone just says get 1 piece driveshaft because they're saying it could be the carrier bearing or out of balance. it seemed worn out when i was looking at it when i replaced my mount. but i also read from researching that some peoples vibration still continues after getting a new drive shaft and even rotating it a few times. I just wanted some more direct opinons on my issue because I cant find multiple issues of the same vibration at that low of a speed. It clears up after I get going faster than 15-20. |

possibility, but its not consistent on how aggressive the vibration is. it does it about 90 percent of the time but sometimes its a little smoother, would you think that would rule out the balancing of the wheel? i'll have to take a look at the rack bushings soon.

Does it change on or off throttle? Off what you said it sounds like a carrier bearing issue like you stated. However if you happen to have another set of wheels or a friend with a set you could borrow just try swapping all 4 wheels first, The last vibration I experienced ended up being a separated tire that was driving me crazy trying to diagnose. Didn't have characteristics of an unbalanced rim but I could feel it throughout the car.

also when I installed the mount it changed the speed in which the vibration happened, probably due to the old mount absorbing so much of the vibration. |

Thanks for the update. My s14 auto is doing the same thing. Only thing I can add different is that it's only under acceleration and if you hit dips in the road whike it's doing it the noise gets softer as the suspension unloads.
