Good shop to do a 5 speed swap for my s14 around San Jose?
I have heard of Vex and SPD (now blu808?) through google searches (2008 archives) but not sure how they are now or if they are better places to go to.
I will be providing all the parts which I can hopefully find within a month. How much would these places or other shops charge for labor? My car is OBD1 and completely stock except sound equipment. I keep seeing this guy's ad pop up on craigslist saying he can do the swap for 500 and offer other services but I cant find much info from his phone number Nissan 240SX Parts and Services |

If you have the place to do it, do it yourself. Its not hard and there are plenty of step by step write ups on how to do it. Even if you have to buy the tools it will be cheaper then having a shop do it.
I can hazard a guess about places like blue808 and its going to be more then 500 bucks. Labor is probobly north of $120 and probobly going to take about 5 hours.

I'm assuming you meant north of 1200? Not sure if I could do it myself since I dont have much experience with cars. I have only changed oil, change dear brake pads, and install a sound system with my own wiring.
I've seen the guide on nico with pics and everything but do you know of the 5 speed swap DVD from 240sxtechguides is any good Edit: oh maybe you probably meant 120 an hour |

Check these guys out, I stopped in once but didn't have much time to talk to them as it was the beginning of the lunch break. They do mainly STI stuff but he seemed knowledgeable enough to do a trans swap in the Nissan area.
Auto Headquarter - JDM performance in SF Bay Area As for the video I am not really sure of the quality.

vex did my swap two years ago and i dont have any problems so far. ive tracked the car probably 8+ times since then too. my only complaint is that they cracked my cf hood and never fessed up to it. good thing selling and replacing it didnt cost me anything in the end so no harm in crying over spilled milk.
