It hasn't been confirmed yet but I'm hoping it will be AT&T. Or barring that, at least have the 3G frequency for AT&T.

The thing with moto/samsung/LG is that their handsets and hardware have been decent in recent years but their UI's and User experience in general have total crap.

Once more manufacturers start adopting android we consumers should have way more choices in great phones.

thing is, this isn't 2003 anymore. it's not like mind-blowing new features are just pulled out of a hat. Android is already packed with killer features. the only thing i'd really like to see is native multi touch support.

I am currently running Cyanogen 4.0.4 which is based off of 1.5 donut and am in the process of converting to the HTC-Dream firmware as soon as my 8gb micro sd gets in the mail, I havent even owned this phone for a week yet and I went through like 5 different firmwares hahhahaha.

Unless someone can figure out how to make the G1 use the SD card memory instead of the internal memory, I don't think Donut will be available for G1s. Hopefully someone can school me on this because G1s right now don't have enough internal memory to even hold Donut.

I've had my g1 since it first came out. Is it just me or does the games suck balls?! Well some is ok, but the Iphone seems to have so much better games. I dunno, might enter the dark side and get a iPhone 4g when it eventually comes out.

Just found out you can root the G1 and do different themes on it. Thats banannas. Check youtube if you dont know what im talking about. Some of you probably already did it, but I just found out, lol.

Donut is the name of a specific version of the Android OS.

Donut competitors would be other OS'.

If you're asking when a company is going to be releasing a mobile device that is thin, "does cool shit" (whatever that means in hardware terms), and has a full keyboard running android then your answer is, who knows?

There are plenty of manufacturers releasing hardware in the next 6 months that will be running some form of Android or another.

If you want to stick with Nokia, look up Maemo. I mentioned it in another thread. This will probably be replacing Symbian on many of Nokia's Flagship devices.

the suck part is 1.5 being the last upgrade for the G1's. Doughnut ain't gonna fit on that on board memory. Sux about G1 not working onthe 3g.

dude Im running a modified version of Donut on my G1 (for now until i convert to a HTC Hero rom on my g1) and it runs hella smooth.

What in the world are you talking about? My G1 works fine on 3G , on T-Mobile.

If you are talking about it not working on ATT?

Well that is a frequency issue and unless a handset maker makes a handset specific for ATT its never going to work.

Reason being T-mobile uses a 1700/2100 3g Network in the U.S. vs ATT using a 1900/2100.

As long as the Networks have those differences you will not get a Iphone to work on the 3G Network on T-mo and you will not get a any T mobile USA 3G phone to work on ATT it will be Edge only.

Possibly with the advent of 4G this will change. Though given the extreme protectionist polices of American cell phone companies? I doubt it. LOL

Don't like it? Blame on it on the way cell phone companies operate in the U.S. as a whole vs Europe.
