I am looking for springs and struts to buy and I'm on a pretty cheap budget.. I found a site that is selling the megan 2" drop springs new for $105 + shipping, and was wondering if I'll regret it in the future.. I definitely want something with a 2" drop and can't afford coilovers, nor do I want them on the horrible Northern Minnesota roads. I was thinking the megan drop springs on KYB AGX struts, or the GR2's.

What do you all think would be a good setup for me? Would I just be better off buying eibach sportlines used and used struts in good condition? If I do get used struts and springs how many miles should the limit be before I should say no, they're too old?

nay go with rsr much nicer ride and never use gr2s they are stock replacements and cant handle anything over a 1.5 inch drop at the most.

The RSR drop springs only drop an inch.. I am looking for 2 inches. And still looking for advice on the questions at the bottom of the first post!

Ok people please read what I actually post in the thread. I am on a budget, I can't afford coilovers or I would be buying them. I don't see me coming up with a grand that I can drop on coilovers anytime in the near future so it won't be happening. I asked for advice on lowering springs and struts. /rant

agx don't handle too much of a drop well. not sure what their proper range is though

In that case, save up and buy quality springs like rsr, eibach, tein, or tanabe. Megan is shit. Period.

Fwiw, buying quality springs and shocks that wont blow while running said springs is gonna run you around $500 - $600 bucks which is already easily halfway toward a set of decent coilovers.

IMHO, you should save your money because you will eventually buy coilovers.

You could go for some used coilovers they usually sell for 400-600 on craigslist.

Or like he said save up a little more and get new coilovers.

AGX shocks will be just fine. They are decent for the price.

I've actually got a set of tein springs for 100 bucks right now... Better than megan for sure.

i have megan springs and AGX shocks, i handles very well and i actually really love the setup..

besides the fact its not really low enough for my tastes, it gives a really nice stance, just not dumped how i like em lol.

i tried to go the cheap route, ended up having to buy coilovers. When you buy coilovers, dont buy cheap stuff too.

u gonna spend about 500? for that agx + megan spring setup
for 800 u can get megan coilovers
thats what made me choose the coilovers over the spring/strut setup

I rock megan springs w/ Tokico blues on my beater s13. They are definitely better than stock and i got my setup for a lil over 300 (used)... nothing compared to my s14's coilovers, but at a price more than a thousand dollars less... I think they are alright.

They're not bad for $105. I've got them on short-stroke Tokicos, and they ride pretty decent. Body roll is much better compare to RSR Down springs. My only complaint is the drop, this is due to the rear being about 1/2" to 3/4" lower than the front . I've talked to a Megan Racing sale rep about this, but after a few emails the dude disappeared.

If you're on a budget, I say go for it as long as you have some struts that can handle them.

i used tanabe springs for a while before i got coilovers, i know a couple guys also running them. theyre good if all you want is a quality spring.

I like the megans, they handle really well. they are pretty stiff, so going over hills you dont bottom out. only thing i will say is..., 2" drop, your oil pan will pay.

i say do what everyone is suggesting.

SAVE UP AND BUY COILOVERS. definitely worth it.

if its a daily beater car. then fuck it. go with the cheapest springs you can find and throw em on your stocks.

Ived riden in cars with megan springs. They ride cool..not a full car on rails handle.But ride quality is decent. Good bang for your buck.

screw it if its a daily driver, just get some cheap springs, hell i had dropzone springs on my kouki until i got my coilovers. the paint chipped off of em and they were starting to rust but they worked for the time being .

S-techs on OEM shocks was a very smooth/comfortable ride.

buy cheap shit and you'll replace it in the near future. I had S-techs on AGX's for a longass time.. My car was much more stable then the shit Tein HE's I have now haha.
