I had won one free ticket from a promotion but couldn't go. Now that I am hearing about this I am glad I feel good that i didn't miss out on anything. Even with a free pass, lol.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaahhhhhaaaaaaaaha. Boy i am glad i do not have my car any longer, seems as though a good wheel is just not worth the chassis' their on anymore. Even a veyron is devalued in the venue. I believe the foreign drivers laughed from a good healthy spot when they went trough this matter. Like i have now. Haha. Wait, a bit more. Hahaha. Ok. Wait. .. . Is that a clipping point indicator? Simpletons.

wow..I was SOOOO excited to go..like in march, I was making a road trip plan and everything, but good jesus, sounds like a failed event.
I'm sorry for those who went and had a bad time. My heart goes out to you..and your wallets. But I guess there's always ASB |

We agree as well the event was just a money pit!
Me and my friend came all the way from new mexico to attend the d1gp usa event, not we have expected at all!
I agree this new organization was just all out for our money! We paid extra for vip passes to visit with drivers in the pit but security closed area at noon and decided only drivers and crew members are allowed in the area, there were plenty of vip holders that were denied entry as well and furious! I even talked to an event staff what is the reason why this is happening, last year's d1 allowed fans to access the pit area and mingle with drivers, she couldn't give me an answer. That same afternoon we wanted to sit in the yellow band bleechers where most of my family were, the damn security guard prohibited us to go in the area. The damn track was short just has 4-5 clipping points in a parking lot of angel stadium. On top of this, most of the formula d drivers aren't in attendance, most of the us drivers are rookies, drift king keiichi wasn't there, and just 3-4 respectable japanese drivers were there, a few parts stores! Just all girls and booties everywhere! No major industry tire company sponsoring the event as well = no take home freebies! And what's up with the bikes, gumballs, and karts? I suggest we boycott the midwest and east coast events, alert members of this freaking scam! I will complain directly to d1 as well, and link this blog to them. Thanks for the great blog, i thought we are just the ones experiencing this wasteful event. |

The Bad
1] 15 dollars to park.... 2] will call line didnt go anywhere 3]pit closed to everyone except the few VIP ticket holders 4] stayed hungry because of the cost/lines in order to buy food 5] stayed thirsty because who in their right mind would pay 5 bucks for a fucking soda... 6] the seating sucked(especially for general admission) 7] couldn't hear anything the announcer was saying 8] there was only 7 d1 drivers and only 4 or 5 of them made it to top 16 nomura didnt even qualify (he might as well not even showed up) 9] Car show was a joke... 10] watching a 5 year old go around in push karts for 15 minutes was lame 11] trick bikes was boring after 2 minutes...only 1 of them was any good 12] they didn't have the 3rd and 4th place battle(they just awarded it to forest wang, he deserved it....but still would of liked to even see it....why even have a fucking competition if its just gonna be a joke. 13] track set up was a bait and switch 14]judging/driftbox was full of fail 15]no flaggers on course only black people picking up car parts! 16] the give aways are a joke....i got a super autobacs lanyerd which was the best thing i saw....the Bailbond shirts out of the air cannon is disrespectful!!!!!!!! oh and the bitches couldn't shoot it...over shot the crowd 2/3 times. 17] they said they would open the PIT to everyone after the event. that didnt happen....stood there waiting with a croud of people just looking stupid until everyone got tired of waiting and left. 18] this has nothing to do with the event really, but getting a bad sunburn while being cold the whole time is not right.... The good... 1] parking lot was dope(minus the 15 bucks)...a lot of nice cars 2] car show-the vip q45s and gs's where sick....the g35/37s, 350z and 1 370z which was the Mines 370 also the green s15 was hard as hell 3]always nice to see kumakubo tanaka ueno saito and nomu <3 4] the D1 drivers showing there tandems was sick...way closer then any fd event... thats really all i can think of at the this time.... i think the bad outweighed the good... i took a grand total of 3 pictures. All of 1 car. The cars there were basically a page outta the book of Hot Import Nights. Total fail. The announcer got the japanese cars wrong except 1, the chaser. He couldn't get his s13 and s14s right. Best part is when we(Bleachers at the Horseshoe area) Boo'd the event workers for the part on the track. And booing the wave tactic. Super lame event.

This series is on a shoe string budget. Not sure if Im supposed to put it publically, sooooo. some of you dont have the smarts to put 2 and 2 together, so.. Like I stated before.............. There is a reason FD drivers arent there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what giant money sucking, bleeding the sport for everything it has organization would want D1GP to fail???? VIP people were in the pit area, sneaking free lunch while staff and drivers and pit crew had to wait for more to be made because of it. VIP people apparently couldt be bothered to walk around the backs of the cars that were getting ready to run down the track. VIP people thought it meant they had no rules. Sorry some wrecked it for others. No one wanted to kick VIP out m sure, but it became neccesary. yeah, boycott it!!!! FD becomes the only drift series. Drifting Professionally looses even more touch, even less skill, more money sucking companies getting their dirty palms involved. more shitty looking cars. more unfair tech decisions on who passes through tech according to rules. more biased judging more fanboys more keeping the privateer/newguy down more of the same 5 guys rotating around the podium more stupid FWD cars being converted to RWD more of the same FD that everyone hates So yeah, boycott D1, the only people that are making an attempt at a real series with real internationl drifting. the guys that are going for a indy/F1 feel, over Nascar feel. |

well if they still had a good turn out of people and made money, they will think they did a good job and continue to host crappy events like that.. you guys shoulda left maybe they would get the idea for the next event to step it up lol *i doubt it for hte price you guys paid , to get ur moneys worth lol*.. but then again they might try to include more crap that they think is appealing to car fans, like maybe a fast and furious car display or some concerts lmao

Unfortunately, not good for most of the attendees. D1 should be for the FANS not blocking FANS to access drivers in the PIT area like several years. The PIT wasn't clearly organized vs Irwindale, it wasn't even a real track! Fans weren't hopping around cars in the Pit area, we just need to mingle with our Drifters!
That's why there is sponsorships to make a good show! Shoestring budget is not the answer! Fans will eventually loose their interest whether it's for the sport or not if shows are run poorly. Quote:

oh yea, and what was up with not being able to leave? Staff guy said only people with pink or black wrist bands were able to leave and come back. Wtf? Irnwindale allowed anyone to leave and come back.

the whole thing was a HUGE disappointment
it was like HIN took over D1 what a sad day for the motorsport. ive always had more of an appreciation for the japanese drivers just there style. high entry speeds but also very technical however i just felt let down. the track was changed what was on the site would have been way better. i mean just about evry aspect was a let down just take a look at the schedule having graphic design background that was total crap no profile of drivers . not even a list of the drivers the actual times where all screwed up it was just slaped together not what i expected from D1.. the drivers in gumball none of the could do a decent burnout or donut (exception to the 4-door skyline that probably was the coolest thing i saw hangin out side the door) i will say forest wang was throwin it down. but yeah very disappointed 5 dollars for a 12oz soda its a good thing they didnt serve beer[lie ] would been like 12 bucks |

Hello all, I read the first page & skimed through the rest of the thread. Now if you go to the D1 "USA" site it gives all the clues as to what this event turned out to be. This US seris deal kinda, sorta has nothing to do with what the OG people have come to know D1 as.This is mearly US based business men(former HIN owners) that have an agreement with D1 JAPAN to use the name D1 and a few select JP drivers at the events to try & capitalize on the market/fans of what used to be D1 as we here on ZILVIA know it to be. In my opinion the rest of the "USA" schedule will most likely be weak sauce at the moment. As for FD driver attendance I think it was too close to the ATL round & many of those guys were on the fence about this "NEW" D1USA anyway. Only time will tell . I personally did not go to the event. Everything has its good & bad points on different levles & from different aspects so take it for what its worth for you.
Question how many JP drivers were there???? ERICCASTRO you are on point with your observation

What I want to say has already been said by most of you, so I won't say it again. lol. But overall, I was somewhat disappointed in pretty much everything. I remember the first D1 events in the US at Irwindale and those were awesome. The driving blew my mind. This event, not so much. I would have liked to have seen some of the FD drivers there, but political reasons didn't allow them to I guess?
Anyways, there are so many things that could have been done to make this event better. Maybe if D1 hears what we have to say, they will change some things to make it a better event for everyone. |

Your opionion is bias because you work for the D1GP
But your right the tandem was awesome Drift box was a complete fail. They just need 3 reputable judges and maybe use some input from the "drift box" for their decision. Everyone knows that if a Formula D driver runs in D1 they can't compete in any other Formula D events. Formula D was boycotting the D1GP in a way. Quote:

I totally agree with the general consensus:
-Food/drinks/parking were way too overpriced -Majority of the cars were lameee and aimed more toward the ricer crowd -Models were fugly except for Tara Love -Announcer was annoying & didn't know half the sh*t he was talking about -Track layout was wack -Schedule was totally off Everything just seemed too last minute. |
