so i was out in the rain yesterday.. tried to do some tail slides with my 92 240sx, and for some reason afterword the shifter was acting up. it seemed like my clutch wasnt being pushed in all the way, but i still managed to shift.. with no grinds. when my car is off, moving through the gears is nice and smooth. when its on, it feals like my clutch isnt engaged. the actual clutch likes to stick maybe 1.5 - 2 inches from its position before it comes back up. the actual clutch is brand new.. so wtf else can be causing the problem?

How new? less than 500 miles new? You're supposed to break it in first.

Could be a pressure issue. Try bleeding the system, check for fluid level, or any leaks.

like he said....did you break in the clutch?

Check your master cylinder, slave cylinder, and last resort would be the clutch fork spring and ball pivot.

which one is the fluid level in the engine bay? i was thinking it might be one of the cylinders. how much would i expect to pay for the master and slave cylinder, and how long would it take to install at a shop? worst case scenario i do it myself hehe.. the clutch was broken in just fine, and has some 5-6k miles on it.

I am having a similar problem. I have bled the clutch about 10 times both manually and with a brake bleeder and it will be fine for a few days and than all of a sudden I will lose the pedal. It will go to the floor and not return. I have replaced the slave cylinder and the master isn't leaking. I am not losing any fluid so the only thing I can think of is that I am getting a small amount of air in the system from somewhere and when each reaches the slave cylinder the pedal goes to the floor. Could it be the distribution box? Has anyone replaced it and fixed this problem? HELP please.....

OMG... same problem here... clutch goes to the floor and I can't shift. It only started after I replaced the clutch. I put a new master cylinder, slave cylinder, and a clutch line in! It worked perfect for day, then the pedal dropped to the floor and I couldn't shift again. I spent an hour in the rain bleading the system, then ended up bypassing the damper (distribution box) and bleading it again. Still nothing! Its now stuck in a parking lot 30 mins from my house!

i had a similar problem like you guys

i noticed that the clutch pedal was sitting lower than before and shifting was hella hard
so
all i did was that i put my hand underneath the clutch pedal and just lifted it up
and
now it shift good cost me nothing too.

i probably used the clutch pedal as my g- force pedal on accedent when i was in a drift.

heres a solution buy a clutch that has a zero mile break in!
When i do my next install i will show you whats up.
