GAME TIME!
Lets all be real for a quick second and ponder... 2 - 2 USA/England tie. Im calling it. I know Dempsey and Rooney won't let it end like that, and its against my instinct, but we'll see. 3-2 is more reasonable than a 2-2 tie imo, but whatever... I am calling a tie because I can't read this game at all yet. Lets see how hot they come out of the gate... either side. |

Howard is a beast. He was injured in the first half and still played well. I think that green would of made bigger mistakes if the USA would attack the the net. But it was a good game.

Haha yeah I got a bit excited I consider it a win though. Better than 1-0 we were expected to lose and ended up getting lucky.

Bah, we have rubbish goal keeping as per usual...It was a good game but we need to capitalize on our chances as stronger teams would stomp on those counterattacks...

Yeah I wish USA played more aggressively and attacked the net as said. It was a good game but USA really got lucky on that goal, obviously. Howard did a really awesome job despite getting clobbered in the chest/hand.
Did anyone see clips from South Korea's game? Greece got pulverized

SHOCK 'N' DRAW Yankee doddle to Yankee doodoo Love the Maradonna reference. He did more damage to us that day than Argentina managed in the whole of the Falklands war. EDIT: I'll just leave this here for the Americans... NY Post Last edited by tricky_ab; 06-13-2010 at 08:25 AM.. |

Great job USA! They played one hell of a game and had more shots on goal than what I expected.
Excited to see Portugal and Spain play.

Yeah man, football is serious business. You should have seen the fallout when England didn't qualify for Euros. It was madness. My cousin told me that it was WEEKS of newspapers slaggin' on the players and no one wanted to do live TV interviews...

I'm happy to see that Germany managed to start this well into the tournament, not just the result but also the manner in which they played- calm and controlled in defence, agile, creative and with an appetite for attacking in the offence. They looked GREAT out there.
If I had to criticise something, it's that they weren't effective enough in front of the goal. I know this seems strange to say after scoring 4 goals, but we could've and should've scored even more effectively with the chances available. A ratio like today could easily come back to bite them in the ass against a stronger team. Also, Gomez sucks. As soon as he came in for Özil, our offence was dead. I know we dialed it back a bit at that time, but still. With Klose scoring and a shoe-in for the Serbia starting 11, Gomez should be a non-issue in the future. |
