^^^Chimps? No sweat. Silverbacks? I think you're fucked unless you get a headshot.
I'm not really concerned with the monkey's ability to take a gunshot, though. I'm more concerned with what happens after the other smart monkeys see what happens when you point your 12gauge at them & when they start applying their superior speed, agility and strength to your ass. |

Since I made this original thread, has anyone watched the original movies?
I'm hoping my wife gets me this for my birthday. Amazon.com: Planet of the Apes 40th Anniversary Collection (Planet of the Apes / Beneath the Planet of the Apes / Escape From / Conquest of / Battle for) [Blu-ray]: Charlton Heston: Movies & TV

idk, the chimps dont seem too terrifying.
if anything they seem friendly and appear to enjoy a good party. Think it would have worked better as a science fiction comedy. Not so sure it being effective as a thriller, def not horror. |

These movies are supposed to be fantasy/sci-fi. Not thriller or horror.

The CG looks really good. I like how they are telling the story of Caesar and his rise. Good plot that goes with the original movies.
Maybe Marky Mark will make a cameo appearance, this would put the movie on another level.. jk

I've seen the originals, my dad owns them. ( VHS, w00t!) haven't watched them in years though, lol. I think before the latest arrives in theaters I will sit down and marathon the old ones
That Blu-Ray collection is a great gift idea, thanks Quote:

Bump. Saw this last night. Movie was GREAT! One of this summer's best, for sure.
I had been wondering: Which would be worse? Robot Apocalpyse, Zombie Apocalypse or Ape Apocalypse? While watching the movie, I thought to myself: Even if they're smart and strong, the apes numbers are limited. They can't take all 8 billion of us. Then I stayed until after the credits. Yep. Ape Apocalype is pretty damned bad. I already want a sequel where the humans try to mount a resistance. |

Just got back from seeing it. What an amazingly well done movie. I LOVE that they covered all the bases. Like you said, you were like "Ok they aren't going to be able to take out the entire human race", then BAM the the part after the credits.
Everything was so believable. I love the quote from the original movie. All I could think of at the end of it was how much I can't WAIT for a sequel now. It should either take place when Caesar is very old or hundreds of years later. either way I thought they did a fantastic job with this movie. They could have really fucked it up like the Mark Wahlberg movie but they did the source material justice.

My date and I were talking about it and she said, for the sequel, she wants to see how Ceasar deals with competition for primate leadership and Ceasar teaching/passing on his feelings about Humanity while dealing with resistance from them.
Obviously, something must have happened to keep the Humans from being completely wiped out from the original movies. All I can figure is that they were spared on a whim or due to the legacy of Ceasar's compassion. |

Hmm...might need to watch this now. I just didnt want to watch it cuz they're playing the Mark Wahlberg one over and over again. I keep thinking in my head that this new one will suck just as much.

EDIT* what happens at the end makes it easier for me to envision an ape takeover in today's modern world, what with our technological advantages and what not.
my question is will the apes be cruel, as they were in the walhberg movie. what are they going to do when they've established their control? i think my favorite part was when the gorilla, buck i think? pushed caesar aside and took down the helicopter.
