S13 Exhaust Removal
I'm in the process of removing the exhaust from my S13. The previous owner replaced the stock exhaust with some no name headers and a straight pipe. (Middle of Nebraska, what do you expect?) I have all the header bolts removed, and I have all but one of the rubber bushings removed from the rear. I have two spots that I can't figure out though. One spot is a solid metal s-shaped hose, and the other is a slightly bigger, L-shaped hose that looks screwed into the header. I need this out fairly soon so I can put my new motor in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

he s hose is for PAIR, and the u shaped pipe is the egr tube. never that joy to trying to remove these. easyest way i assume would be using a large pipe wrench of vise grips, if you want to keep your emissions.

I'm unsure what the lower hose is, but the upper threaded one is your EGR tube.
Unless your state requires emissions it's easier to cut the egr pipe and remove the system off the car (also putting a cap on the EGR valve) and then remove it on the bench (if it even comes out). You can attempt at soaking it in penetrate, but it may be nearly impossible without heat and penetrating oil.
