i hate tailgaters. when i get tailgated, instead of doing what i used to do, by downshifting 2 gears and taking off, and thinking 'yeah, i showed them', now i just slow down even more, put on a blinker, never turn, then when they do a lane switch to pass, i slowly speed up to the car up ahead so they're still blocked in behind me. i then stay with the car for a little while, then i turn off the ol' blinker, give it a little gas like i'm going to take off, then the tailgater that's now tailgating the person in the next lane sees an opening so they floor it and get behind me in my lane thinking they're going to go somewhere finally. but then i just slow down again, so slow that the person next to me is now passing me. repeat those steps over and over, and if they finally do pass you when you have to turn or whatever, act like you're talking on the cell phone, or take the cellphone, hold it like a microphone and act like you're singing. gets em every time. or if they give you the finger and say fuck you, just smile real big and wave. my friend does the same thing, he's learned well. also my strobe lights in the backups can get annoying to tailgaters.

Thats funny, I do the same thing.  I speed up so they are boxed in, and do the whole turn signal thing too.  Only when they go by, I am sure to flip them the bird!

I'm with you guys man.  I'm convinced that nobody know how to drive!  I hate tailgaters, and I hate it when people drve 10 to 15miles under thespeed limit in the #### passing lane too.  And OLD PEOPLE, them F**kers just don't know how to drive.  As for chasing people down, I have been know to do that.  I almost beat the living crap out of some guy in minivan in clearwater because I stopped at a red light, and he wanted to run it so he laid on the horn.  There was a policeman next to us.  I figure maybe that would cuse the guy to stp bt no!  So i gave him the finger, and he laid on the horn.  So when the light changed I moved over, and let him pass me.  It was some skinny ass bitch punk so I decided to follow the bitch.  He pulled off, so I followed he pulled in to a parking lot so I followed, and parked behind him.  I got out of the car, and waited for a while he never got out of his van.  I'm not a big guy or anything.  But i would have wrecked his shit. I just sat on the hood waiting for him to come out, and say something.  Afterward I thought #### if I would have hit him I probably would have got in trouble!  Oh well!  That's just one of the countless stories that have I've been a part off.  Nice to see that it's not jut Floridians that drive like idiots!

I agree though, that people can be real arseholes driving... Especially up here in Maine during tourist season. We get a lot of people that have no Idea what the roads are like and ALWAYS have someone going strait from the right hand only lane and almost hitting you...

As far as tailgaters are concerned... most of the time I find that they do it at night, and that's REALLY annoying. I usually slow down and pull over a bit for them to pass me, then Gas it and follow behind them and flash the high beams a few times to let them know they fucked up. There's no reason for people to tailgate like that. It's not like I'm going slow either. I'm usually 5-10 over the speed limit on rural roads.

Well later I realized that I went over the line but at the time I was so pissed all I could think of was kicking this guys ass, He laid on the horn the whole time we were at the light for like a minute.  The light was red when I got there so I that pissed me off worse.  It was definately the wrong thing to do but he kept on the horn even after we started going.  I was really annoying!

What I can't stand is people who drive cars with really aggressive body kits that can't back up their shit. I mean, if you have a car that looks fast, it #### well better go fast or I'm going to be pissed. Maybe it's just me, but I hate seeing tricked out cars that look to be able to do 195 mph only to see they can't even keep up with a stock 240sx. When I find one of those I have to really resist the urge to drive them off the road, drag them out of their car, slap the shit out of them, and then take them to see a few of my friends for a show of what a real car should be. hehe Ok, there's my rant. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I could care less about tailgaters as long as they don't rear end me which has never happened. What pisses me off are those assholes that ride real slow in the passing lane and make you have to pass on the right. In the Dallas area, you just expect people to cruise in the left lane, so you stay to the right if you are driving fast. It just sucks for those people trying to merge on to the highway. That brings me to another pet peeve: drivers in front of you on the on ramp that don't match the speed of the traffic on the highway. It seems like they always merge into traffic fine but leave me fighting to get over because the faster traffic on the highway piles up behind them.

I don't get too pissed at other drivers unless they cut me off badly (especially when it's not necessary). I'll retaliate by getting around them and cutting them off.

The driving test should be much, much more difficult to pass.

Nope. &nbsp;My road happenings are all in Florida. &nbsp;I live in Englewood... called Wrinklehood.. &nbsp;old people and white thugs with the ody kit cars that are stock and puff oil out the back and leak radiator fluid, that Fuzzy was mentioning.
Also, I was wondering... has anyone had a car they didn't like and pulled the e-brake when someone was tailgating them. &nbsp;I hear that messes people's day up <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.

I don't think that's the problem, because at least here it's not easy to pass, it's just that if you take it a certain number of times, you do anyway, u know? I think they should just get people that really care who they're passing and failing. That's the problem. The people are too much about the technical things, and not how well you handle yourself on the road, how courteous you are, etc.

never done that. but just by having a manual, having it in 3rd gear while the person behind you is coming up quick and about to ride your bumper, just let off the gas <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> that third gear will wind down quickly like automatic normal car slightly using the brakes. when THEY hit the brakes, punch the gas and shift into fourth. that's one of my favorites. but i've had the urge to slam into someone's car, even with my 240sx. i'll never do it though.

ah. i hate it when people do that. my friend went on vacation in florida. he said in some intersections it was no big deal for 4 or 5 cars to run a red light, and that's not counting the yellow light runners. he also said he was driving a rental car on the highway, doing 5 over the speed limit in the slow lane, and people were honking, then a cop nearly ran him off the road. hehe

Some other people who have experience the wonders of Florida drivers. &nbsp;No Offense but South Florida Drivers are the worst. &nbsp;My friend from miami tells me that in South FL red lights are optional, and sign ar just for decoration. &nbsp;All I could do was laugh, because that's exactly what i seemed like when I was down there. &nbsp;

yeah I hate tailgaters, but i do it sometimes too, only to people that are going 20mph slower than everyone else on the freeway. but if they do that to me, I just let em pass and tail them with my high beam for a while,, but #### the 240sx High beams are frikking bright. &nbsp;My friend has a switch wired to his reverse lights. heheh, which is also another good idea.

Atlanta drivers sucks. I was in a backed up line at a red light yesterday in Atlanta and this lady is trying to leave a Wendy's parking lot. She was trying to fit between my rear and the person behind me. There wasn't enough room, so she starts honking at me to move up. I couldn't move up. I was already an inch away from the guy in front of me. I look back and she is now giving me the finger. And for what I say, because she is retarded and can't wait a minute for the light to change so that I will be able to move up. People piss me off, everybody just needs to claim the f*ck down.

S'much as i hate tailgaters i try to remain calm. &nbsp;No telling what might happen if you lose your cool. &nbsp;A lady here got pumped with 2 bullets for giving a guy the bird.

Ok, I live not too far from Miami. &nbsp;It's great. &nbsp;On I-95, the speed limit is 65 mph. &nbsp;I was goin 95mph in the middle lane, and a cop blew by me at at LEAST 105. &nbsp;It was crazy. &nbsp;Then some guy was right behind him goin 105 too. &nbsp;
Also, they saying in South Florida, is &quot;Stop signs with white borders are optional.&quot;

Wow, I'm glad I live away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I've drivin in Miami, sister went to school there, and everything you guys say is true. I just hope my sister gets over it before coming back up to Reno for clinicals <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> Tailgating is a pain in the ass, but not as bad as most cell phone drivers. Very few people have the intelligence to yak and drive at the same time, throw some chewing gum or a soda in there and you've got BIG problems. They just don't pay enough attention to driving. I have a cell myself, and avoid talking in the car whenever possible 'cause I find whenever I do I can't recall the landscape I just passed - not good <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>. Aside from that, it's just the loudass kids who can't back up their shit. Rice has been slow coming to my area, but they're becoming more and more popular. Just gotta make sure my car is ready to be on top :-)

I just hate people who always talk a lot of sh*t when they really know nothing about cars...there is this guy where I work who SWEARS that Supra's and 3000GT's were only single turbos...oh yeah, he also swears up and down that on the Toyota site you can special order a new Celica with a turbocharger...lastly, this all-knowing car guru drives a Mitsubishi truck and claims to have a 280HP turbocharged inline 6 engine under the hood but won't let me see it...ARGHHH now i gotta print out info on the 3000GT, and Supra and prove to him he's WRONG, lol

Best response to someone riding your ass: lightly step on the brakes and see if they're getting off. If not, then step just a bit harder. If that person's a real idiot, you'll soon have a brand-new rear bumper, or lots of extra cash to buy a body kit with. (Yeah, I know it's not nearly as safe as just irritating the &nbsp;person by driving speed limit next to the person in the other lane, but some people need to get scared in order to get off your @$$.)

I was coming home one day and had just left a major roundabout in rushhour. We all inevitably clogged up the road we`d just entered as we waited at the lights in a long jam.Then the wife and i sat jaw dropped as the guy 2 cars in front got out and approached the car behind him (i.e The car in front of us) and screamed abuse at him about what had just happened at the roundabout.Then he went back to his car as the old grumpy fifties guy in front was abusive from his car. Then the guy turns round comes back to the fellas window in a rage and starts strangling him through his window and shaking his head from side to side. I beeped (was ignored) got out and shouted for him to stop (ignored ) and then had to go over and try and calm him down without getting pasted.

&nbsp; &nbsp; I'm surprised the guy didn't vent out on you too! &nbsp;I went to a University of Connectiut basketball game when I was back home in hartford. &nbsp;4 guys in the car in front of me were acting like idiots. &nbsp;Yelling stuff at the people walking by. &nbsp;Finally the said the wrong thing to the wrong guy. &nbsp;The guy turned around walked over to the car. &nbsp;Then the guys 2 sons, and his brother who were walking infront of him joined in the fun. &nbsp;So each of them grab one of the kids inside the car, and pounded them good. &nbsp;It was really annoying because they held up traffic forever. &nbsp;I couldn't go around them and the 20 cars behind them didn't faze them. &nbsp;Finally the security guard mov the idiots out of the way. &nbsp;It was kind of funny at first but then it just became an inconvenience.

One of my friends was stuck in traffic with his girlfriend on a Sunday about a month ago. There was a very nervous-mad-angry guy behind him who kept honking and screaming, hoping that the cars would move because of his anger?! Anyway, my friend stuck his head out the window, told him to stop honking and that he can't do anything about the traffic. I guess the guy behind him got aggravated at that, got out of his car and took his club out of the car with him. When my friend saw him get out of the car, he closed all his windows except for his sunroof. The guy came up to his car and first smashed the hood with the club. He then stuck his arm (with the club) through my friend's sunroof and started beating on him with this big-ass piece of iron. He first got hit in the head and fell unconscious on his girlfriend's lap, who fortunately didn't get hit at all. People were scared to come up to the idiot because he just kept hitting this kid anywhere he could reach until the police came. My friend was hospitalized for about 2 weeks and had a gazillion fractures in his scull. The guy got a few years in jail for attempted murder.
I kept closing both my windows and my sunroof and locking my doors for about two weeks after that. Definitely not an event to ignore.

i hate it when you try to pass someone on the highway, and they try to speed up like they think they can block you in, but it doesn't do them any good. for 212 miles, coming from KC (240sx meet) back to st louis, i pissed off three cars of people, because they were going too slow then i go around them politely and they feel they are being 'shown up' so they downshift and a little race happens. a olds intrigue, chrysler sebring and pontiac sunfire convertable were going at it the whole way. wow what great choices of cars to race a semi modded 240 with a crazy driver. i know my car isn't the fastest but after the first 2 times i beat them in the first 15 minutes of the drive home, how the FUCK do they think they're going to beat me for the rest of the 2 hours and 45 minutes?? i stayed ahead of them and they wouldn't give up the entire time! all because my car is faster than theirs, and they don't like that fact. but in the end, they all got the finger and some unfriendly phrases. ugh, i gotta start driving at night with hardly any people on the road, or get a slower car. road rage is unhealthy.
