Gentlemen, grab your check books: 2008 Fairlady Z 380RS-Competition
Filed under: Motorsports, Japan, Nissan
Click above for a gallery of the 2008 Nissan Fairlady Z 380RS-Competition. Almost a year after it was originally revealed, Nissan has finally put a price tag on the 2008 Fairlady Z 380RS-Competition. But let's not trifle with the cost of ownership yet. As its name implies, the 380RS is a tried-and-true racecar, with a stroked version of the VQ35HR V6. The 3.8-liter mill is producing 350 hp and 321 lb.-ft. of torque, which it sends to a Nismo Super Coppermix clutch and on through to a close-ratio, six-speed gearbox and mechanical LSD. The body meets Super Taikyu regulations, in which it was designed to compete, and comes equipped with new aerodynamic enhancements, a roll cage, six-pot Brembos and the required catalytic converter. Inside, it's all business, with carbon fiber door panels, a Recaro throne, six-point harness and a fire extinguisher. With that out of the way, the price is a cool 28,350,000 yen, or just over $285k USD. Well-funded, privateer teams need only apply. tow hook.
but if you can get one of these you can have a fleet of GTR cars, maybe it isn't allowed to compete in the classes this can. but you could have one GTR in each color |

reminds me of r/c cars, like when Tamiya releases a pro version of one of their r/c cars with all the hop up options for like 3 times teh cost.

hahahahahahahaha. WTF?!
That price better include access to an entire nissan race team. Any idiot could build a 350 that is twice as fast for half as much. You do the math. |

you do realize in Grand-AM the RX8 that competes against the GT3 is a 3-rotor 500hp, CF body, that costs 280K. Last time i check 3 of them were running last year. Race cars are expensive, if you don't hang around race cars, all that money goes into having more adjustment, and having a completely sorted out chassis, from aero, suspension, pick up points, a class legal cage, fuel cell, electronics, etc... For real racing you gotta pay to play.
BTW I doubt it could compete in Speed GT, all those cars are mainly tube chassis except for the porsche (because it is that good). Igor was making 475whp when he ran in speed GT 2 years ago. he learned essentially everyone is 500+ minimum. In speed TC you know how many restrictions those cars are placed under. where can you see a 330ci running equal with a e46 M3, even with an audi A4, and equal with a TSX. The 380RS is probably good for Grand-Am GS class.

Its a bare bones 350z with a stripped interior, a stroked motor ran by stand alone, brakes, nismo aero kit, ONE recaro spg and wheels. Even IF it had an all carbon fiber body that still wouldnt put this car anywhere NEAR $285k. A base model Z only goes for around 20k (and thats being generous). You mean to tell me that what i listed adds up to $265K in mods. Ummmm yeah, i think not. With that kinda money, i could build a 350z that i would shit all over this car. I'm not hating on it, i'm just being real. Its totally over priced. |

Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 $152,350
Porsche 911 GT3 RS $ 124,900.00 But its probably more comparable to one of Porsche's Cup Cars...they don't list the price on those http://www.porsche.com/pap/motorspor...rt/racingcars/

a base model Z starts at over $26k, that's not your everyday billybob built dirt track role cage, it didn't state the make up of the suspension, what the actual specs on the engine were, or what all was different. I'm sure that is a totally redesigned beefed up version of a stroked VQ much the same way the JGTC GTR is now. Yes, the new race GTR makes the exact same horse power, but Nissan engineers totally redesigned the car to be able to use this horsepower for extended periods of time in race conditions.
