I just got my motor rebuilt and found one of my freeze plugs leaking after putting coolant in. Do I just order another one and hope it works? Anyone have experience with this?

Figure out why it's leaking. Most likely it's not sitting right. Give it a few taps towards were it's leaking from so it would sit flushed. If not, take it out and put a new one in.

I used permatex Indian head shellac on the freeze plugs.

That's after having a leak issue.

Make sure the hole is clean and scratch free.

just push it in or get a new one.

btw there aren't truly "freeze plugs" and won't save your engine if water freezes in it.

either
apply sealant (ie permatex previously mentioned or their #1 or 2 sealant)
to see if that fixes it andmit not you can buy a general 40mm freeze/core plug at the auto parts store

to remove the old one
drain coolant, hit one side of the plug in with a punch, until you pushnthatnside into the block, then youll be able to grab the other (protruding) end with pliers.

to install a new plug, apply sealant to plug, place plug square over the hole, take a socket that is slightly smaller than the plug, sit it so it sits inside the plug and wake the socket with a hammer/mallet til it drives the plug in. you want the plug to be a little deeper than flush with the block
