Haha I bought the first one I saw. I wish I had waited a little longer.

That's the plan! and I hope it is the end result. If not then I'm planning to jump ship to a 350z or build a turbo S2000 that's one car I have always wanted to build.

AWR S13 Coupe Street/Drift Build

Monday night update. My buddy Tyler came over and helped take measurements of the shim's with the BC 264 mounted. All were in "cold" factory measurements. The bc is about .002 - .003 out from what they call for. I'm going to leave it be and just get the head cleaned, and checked out.

Also I started to clean up the residue from the block and old head gasket. I'm going to check the deck for being in spec later this week also. More cleaning to go.

More updates to come.

So im starting to get anncy with this build as I have been watching others makes progress on theirs.

So here is a small update and also a schedule of what should be happening over the next month.

Build Schedule:
-Drop off about 8 items for powder coating this week.
-Torn the head off the block to check both cam to shim tolerances and to get it ready to drop off at the machine shop. Just to get it checked out and install my new seals and spring/retainer kit.
-I'm working on cleaning up the block deck surface as well. I will be checking tolerance this weekend to make sure its in-spec.
-I might pull the oil pan to just take a peak at the crank and bearings.

Once I get stuff back I'm diving right into assembling the long block.

Build update:

With 3 feet of snow on the ground we are pretty much snowed in. I was able to tear down the rest of the motor.

I was going to reinstall the oil pump but I realized Toyota put o-rings on the upper pan and oil pump. So I'm stuck at the moment. I need to pick up gaskets next week anyways.

So I started pulling things out of the day that I don't need or want.

Wondering if I should take the time now and tuck the fuse box. Also wondering if I should spray the bay a new color. What's everyones opinion?

Good call welding that trigger wheel. If you haven't already, pick up a fluidampr crank pulley, these jz ones like to fall apart, and extend hard lines for fuel to the other side of the bay for safety's sake.
Respraying the bay something other than dull grey would look sweet.
Welcome to team jz, you're going to like it here.

Hey thanks for the welcome! I'm happy to be apart of the 2JZ army.

Yes. I do plan to pick up the fluidampr pulley. I would prefer not to have mine come apart at rpm.

Yea I'm thinking about a slightly darker grey with black accents in the motor.

I found a guy local to me who is going to reinstall the baffles. Turns out he does a lot of them.

How does he plan to do it? Weld them back on? I'm curious because I want to remove mine.

He is going to drill them on a press for precision and then tap them for bolts.
after he reinstalls the baffles, he will tack weld the Bolts to the baffle.

it will cost me about $60-$100.00. But it well worth the piece of mind to me. I like doing things right the first time.

AWR S13 Coupe Street/Drift Build

I got some inspiration from lilcim's "low level build". I decide to tear down the engine bay, clean up bad areas and repaint it. As well I have decided to add the chasebays Brake booster eliminator kit and pop valve. I found a kit second hand in great condition, and jumped on it!

A lot more work to do on the bay, but I see the end results in my head.

Got all of my 2J motor parts back from the powder coaters today. Absolutely love the finish. I had it on my Evo and had to do it on the 2jz

Check it out wrinkle black:
