2005 SCCA rule book
Can anyone tell me what the dimensions are for the numbers on the car is. The chapter im in are being DICKS about us drifting on their course, no they havent given us anything as far as a Drift Day. A couple of examples are they are making the courses really tight so tight that the FF guys and X classes were even complaning. Another is they are saying they cannot read my # they are black on a white background on a black car? I greatly appreacate the help. Oh we dont have any more rule books until the start of the real season so thats why my ? is here.
Thanks

In NASA, they look for 10" tall numbers with a 1.5" wide lines. I've never been to an autocross that wouldn't accept shoepolish on the windows, though.
But... you shouldn't be using an autocross as a drift course. They don't design the courses with drifting in mind, and I don't just mean tight hairpins. The way the course is set up could be perfectly safe for autocrossing but dangerous (offering risk of offs or contact with light poles or course workers) for a car being driven tail-way-out. I understand your frustration for the lack of events, but crashing someone else's party isn't the way to go. They're being dicks because they don't want to lose their contract with the site, with their insurance, etc. by letting people do whatever they want out there. And if you're spinning out, or punting lots of cones, then you're slowing down the whole event. |

It's going to end up being a big stink. I hate it. It's hard to argue that you can't "drift" when some of our better drivers are on a very fine line between drifting and gripping.

FUCK AUTO CROSS!
Its a waste of time, I've been doing it for for the last 2-3 years and I hate how they set up their shit here in SF Region. (I actually quit around 2003 until I found my new places to track my car). I get there at 7AM and don't get to run till 11AM. 3 runs = 3 Minutes. I have to wait for another 3 hours to work. At the end I lose, all day for 3 minutes run. $35 bucks and my $75 bucks a year membership. |

It's okay if you're just starting to get to know your car. If you have no feel for your car and haven't been to an official track event, it's a really good way to start off, since it's very safe and generally slow.
I went to about 4 or 5 last season, but I plan to go to around 2 this season. The other ones will hopefully be TRUENOCOUPE's private track events by the way...we have a local drifter in the Sac region who's a very good drifter, but for the most part, he drifts during FUN RUNS. The locals there don't mind since he's a regular and it's a nice show (btw, he's a zilvian ) |

So everyone raned and raved and still no answer for my ?, the link didnt work. I can see everyones point of veiw and I respect I thought about about the same things for awhile, except how does it waste time if someone is running behind me putting cones back. As far as the 3 hour wait for 3 minutes of fun time, it does suck. Our chapter was all for it actually helping the club im a member of and wanting us at there events so I guess they or one person decided it wont happen anymore. Oh well I guess I dont have to go out.
