KA Speedo cluster non-functional

Bought this 240sx S13 in the KA24E fashion. The gauge cluster speedometer has been pegged at 100mph+. I changed the battery terminals and fixed a ground the stereo was hooked into.

Then it went down to 0mph. One time it worked for a few minutes displaying accurate reading then 0mph again.

Anybody have input? Thanks

This is a pretty common issue. It's always related to the vss on the trans itself when I've dealt with it. Thr gauge is not something that goes bad in most cases.

I would do some continuity and voltage drop test on the vss harness. If you cant find the problem, pull the sensor out and check the condition of the plastic gear.
