what's the furthest you have driven your 240sx
I have to go to school for 3 months 1280 miles away. It was suggested I bring a car.
I drive my car daily 50 miles round trip. 1 weekend a month I drive 150 miles. I have had this 240 for 3yrs and that is the most I have driven. Specs; 1993 coupe convertEd 5 speed KADE 188k miles Mods/repairs: felpro head gasket / resurfaced head / ARP head studs One injector replaced and all new injector seals installed New alternator / starter/ water pump / optima red top New plugs / wires / cap and rotor New brembo rotors with ceramic pads VLSD (180sx) The bad: Small oil leak from rear main seal. (I will try to fix before I go) Power steering leaking from steering rack Right rear wheel has a small bend so I get a lil vibration So give me your opinion? Would you drive your 19yr old 240sx 1200 miles? Fyi my wife says I'm crazy. |

Sounds like the problems you're having with it are pretty minor. I would definitely fix the wheel before going on a trip like that though. Actually I'd fix the wheel anyways.

I've been daily driving my 93 SE hatch 5spd for 7 years now with absolutely no problems. That includes multiple Bay Area to L.A. trips a year. One time the radiator blew, but it was the original one so I couldn't really complain. Just maintain your vehicle and don't neglect minor issues like the ones you listed.

Atlanta to Tampa, about 480 miles. It was 100*F the whole fucking way and I had no a/c lol. Car did fine though, spent the weekend down there then drove back in similar conditions.

~240 miles one way to the track, drive all day (55mi of burnouts), ~240 miles back home. So like 550 miles pretty much. Give or take.

Portland to Laramie = 1280miles. Drove non stop for 16 hours at 85mph. Its a 91 Convertible converted to 5 speed.
your car is more reliable than you think. Mine does have under 90k miles though |

As long as you don't have the same luck as that guy a month or so back who drove 1-2k miles and wrecked 3 times, the final time totaling it.
You should be fine. If you are worried, stop half way through and let it cool for a while. I drove my SR with 2 blown ringlands 400 miles round trip with no issues.

i daily drive close to 100+ miles almost each day and have done over 400+mi in one day on mine, for long trips i just take extra coolant, oil, PS and brake fluid.. and all misc items i might need in case of an emergency... this has saved me from having to pay for a tow dozens of times...
since u have those leaks those things will help you on the way just take extra better safe than sorry... about the wheel i would fix that... to much vibration can harm something if u leave it alone for a long time.. i wish i could drive my car that amount of miles, i have a bad back so i can't drive long hours like i used to when i was a teenager in this same car... |

i picked up my beat ass ka24et in LA and drove to walla walla washingtonm, around a 1200 mile trip. It had a loose intercooler clamp that would shoot off everytime i went into boost and an air filter that was probably the dirtiest thing ive seen in my whole life. Looked like the car had gone to Pismo or something. . Since i didnt have any tools i used a penny to tighten the intercooler piping when it would come loose. Also one of the rims had a giant gash in it and the tore the sidewall of the tire too. Later on one of my spark plug wires melted on my headers and the car started misfiring like crazy. Luckily i had duct tape so i was able to fix it. KA's are tank motors and it takes a whole lot to stop them.
P.S. driving my car that far with all the problems pissed me the fuck off. I was angry like the whole time cuz i forgot to bring tools. So definitely bring tools, duct tape, and zipties. |

Before I bought my car, previous owner drove it from SoCal to Southern Illinois University. 2000 miles. Car was a champ.
I bought the car and drove it from SIU to the Northshore 'burbs of Chicago. 360 miles, no problems except the exhaust starting to annoy me. |

i took my last s13 coupe from st lucie florida to huntington beach california, the LONG way. went up through atl, nashville, deals gap, then west. total of roughly 3k miles in 4 days.
i've also driven my s13 hatch the same start to finish, but the direct route on the 10 in 51 hours, that is only 2600 miles. the kade is pretty much bulletproof in stock form. as long as it has good clean oil and you don't mess with it (not boosted or anything) it'll give you 300,000 miles with little or no fuss. |

drove my zenki from Los angeles to fresno, back to LA then back to fresno and once more to LA lol thats about 200 miles a trip. btw all in one day. then again i maintain my car and change oils every 3k miles. as long as you take care of your car youd be fine. fix the leak on the main seal and power steering. if cant just take some oil and check every once in a while...
