CXRacing Jeff Jones 2014 Formula D S14

alright so we are re-building the CXracing Jeff Jones s14.. we are looking to make some more power this year so we are having our engine rebuilt to handle the additional power and Boost that we are adding this year. Much of the fabrication has already been done and we are close to completion with this project. i will be adding pictures as we move onward with the build but for now i will post a few roughly bringing everyone up to speed with the project.

we are also looking to change up our livery this year as well, we hope you all enjoy the build.

so we've been busy finishing up some little details and trying to decide what kind of colors to go with our new livery for the 2014 season. all the fab work is done for the turbo system and we are very pleased with how it turned out, it's going to be a fun project once its all done after the final assembly.

i'll post up some specs for our engine and turbo set up once we have all the rest of our internals ready and installed but for now here are pics of the kit all done.

please tell me you will apply a lot headerwrap and try and support the weight and the turbo by means of the front subframe or in a similar manner, that is a ton of piping length that i see that is only supported by the header bolts (i have not viewed the underside of the car)

that work looks amazing and i'm excited to see what jeff brings in '14

here is a quick update for our 2014 ls1 turbo, we have completely finished the header design and turbo set up. we are waiting to have the car wrapped so we can finish re-assembly. here are some pictures of the headers back from being ceramic coated.

we might make a kit somewhat similar to this but this specific kit is a one-off kit made for this car in particular. do to most people not using rear mounted radiator set-up and having tubed front ends this kit is not likely to be a good seller, we might make a kit on our stock s14 but that won't be for quite some time.

^ Yeah! Make this exhaust fit in a chassis with stock radiator/core support & i'll throw my Hooker headers out the window to buy em!
There is not enough room in my s13 with your radiator & fans to fit a turbo in front of the LS engine. Looking forward to an interesting design down the road!

I have to ask, why didn't you guys just rotate the turbo compressor housing so that the outlet was facing forwards, and directly into the end tank of the intercooler? eliminating the charge piping on the hot side. Instead of having un-needed piping running up and over and around that's pointless.

well taking into consideration the amount of time, space and parts we are using for the build we would've had to of made a custom intercooler with custom end tanks to make your version work. We already had a solid plate form to work off of and having to change all the bracing and bash bars seemed more time consuming then just working around them and spending more time trying to make a whole new front end. the turbo is placed almost center in front of the motor and also considering the amount of power and heat that our engine set up is going to produce this was the route we decided was best with the largest intercooler we can fit..

do to a couple set backs and delays we are on a time crunch to finish tuning the car, the car is all done except for tuning and vinyl but we are shooting to have that done by Monday so we can go out and test Tuesday to dial in the suspension and see what changes are needed.

We also did a nice little video of the assembly so we will have that up and ready after dyno tuning.
