road side assistance
Does anyone else on here help people at the side of the road? Like help people if they run out of gas, car breaks down and need a ride to the next gas station, or help anyone change a tire? Just wondering, because I do. I try to help anyone I can with anything I can, because I think alot of people do not help others, especially if they have to go out of their way.
I have a few stories about helping people. Nothing bad, just a few funny things. But was wondering if anyone else likes to help out people who need help on the road? |

I remember back in the day when I started driving (1998), I'd stop just to ask if someone needed to use my cell phone, since hardly anyone had one! It was huge! You'd see peoples eyes light up when they realized they didn't have to hoof it to the call box to call for a tow. I bet kids today don't even know what a call box is.

I think it is a rule to stop for an s chassis. You dont really have a choice. It is like an unwritten code. Just like if you see someone driving another s chassis you have to chuck a deuce or a thumbs up.
The other day, I stopped and helped a young couple that ran out of gas in the middle of Santiago Canyon, they were going to walk to the next gas station which was like 5 miles away. When I stopped they said there must have been a dozen cars that drove by and did not bother to help them. I understand why some people do not want stop because what if the person is dangerous. But I suggest that you use your better judgment. They were really surprised that someone stoped to help them. I just put myself in others shoes, and I have been there before, I have had shit happen and had to walk, or just had to walk a long distance, and I would always thing in the back of my head, " I hope someone stops to see if I need a ride or something." Yes I attribute it to karma, and treating others how you would like to be treated. Plus it is just nice, to know that you were able to help someone in a tiem of need and make a bad situation good for them. |

I try to stop if its within reason, and if im not in some crazy rush.
I have pulled over to help people in a few car accidents that have happened infront of me. I had a motorcyclist die in my arms one time driving back from the bay area to sacramento, he layed the bike down infront of me and got ran over by a car, there is way more to the story, but i blocked two lanes of traffic with my car on the freeway outside of davis (hwy 80) to protect myself and the guy that crashed. I lost a pulse and performed CPR on him, regained a pulse and shortly lost him there after right when the fire dept came. It was pretty interesting situation but ill never forget it... Ive had a few more related times...but no one died like that... other than that, yea i help people change tires n shit lol |

Yeah I help people on the side of the road. One time I pulled behind an SUV pulled to the side. She had hit a deer head on. Fucking exploded deer everywhere. Airbags went off, she had her little brother in the car, and when she hit her cellphone went somewhere. She was in shock, couldn't find it. And she was a cute little asain girl too... had a messed up grill but everything else was like 10/10. I let her use my cellphone.
But you see someone on the side of the road, its just nice to help. And it gives you an excuse to show up to work late lol.

hahahhahahha they had a baby and you let them walk? that is fucked up!
Once when I lived in up in Cen Cal, I saw this vato super chollo guy at the side of the road with his old lady and they had a little kid and it was super hot outside. They were parked at the side of the road, in this idustrial district. I stop pull over and ask the guy if he if he needs help. He said he needed a jump start, so I jump start his car and he walks ups to me after he closes the hood, and say he man thanks alot, the last person I expected to stop to help was a white guy. I laughed and said I was happy to help. |

shit it was 110? That is messed up.
I don't know it was kinda funny when that happened. One time when I was driving to Fresno for the holidays with my brother. We noticed a Honda Accord at the side of the road with the hazards on, and all the doors open but nobody around. This was in the middle of no where on the 99 fwy. About a mile up the road I saw this guy running in the bushes in the side of the road and he looked twacked outta his mid with fear. We figured that he could have been that guy from the Accord, and he might need help. By the time we could double back, the guy awas about another half mile past where we saw him. Turns out he got a flat and then an suv pulled over to " help him" He told us he told the guy he just needed them to stay parked behind him so he can see what he was doing(because it was dark) well the guy weent back to the car then 4 guys got out of the car with a bat and a crow bar and tried to attack him. Turned out the guy was a gaurd at corcran state penn, and had a gun in the car and all that shit. So I don't know if those guys jacked his gun, but after the last guys that stopped to help him tryed to kill him, he was not very trusting. After we talk him into getting in the car so we can take him to a gas station, he said" can I please sit in front? I do not want to sit in back?" So I get in back behind him and as we start down the freeway, then I say( and yes I know I am retarded for saying this, but I was tired it was late and I really was not thinking) " I know you are scared and feel safer in front but hav'nt you seen mafia movies? If you sit in the front they can easliy just choke you to death with a rope or something" Guys face went white as a ghost and I think he honestly thought of jumpin out the car at 70 miles an hour. After we waited with him at the gas station for a ride to come pick him up, we laughed so hard at what I had said and how scared he was. It was so funny, but he was really appreciative. |

I'm glad there are good people in this world. When my car broke down on Route 1 due to MAF issues, a really cool guy named Bart who drives an S14 stopped to give me a hand to diagnose the problem and to call in a tow truck for me. He even helped me cut some zipties to get my bumper off to get on the flatbed.

yea theres good people but I will never EVER FORGET HOW SCARED AND HOW MAD I WAS! here in vegas there can be a suburbian master plan comunity and across the street can be a dessert with nothing on it. kinda like how rancho cucamonga and palmdale was when it started *if any of you guys passed by when they were new with a few planed communities and dessert.
well i was 14! i rode my dirtbike everyday from my house out to the trails (since they were across the street) it had rained the night before and i never drove in the rain or in mud (hence i live in vegas) well i was flooring it on 5th. then outa nowhere i was slowing down as if my motor blew up but i herd it perfectly fine. turns out my bike and me were getting sucked in by mud. i was knee deep. and i was 14 so i was still young and weak i tried so hard to get my bike out and i was crying because my "dad" would be mad cos i flooded the engine with mud and water trying to get it out. i was a mess my white boots were brown. and my helmet was except for my chrome lens oakley's. i left my bike after trying to get it out for 2 hours then i walked and i came up to the closest road while scared that my bike will get stolen (it was a brand new 2005 cr 85) so i walk to the shoulder lane of a 2 lane road which also was the back entrance for nellis air force base (no i wasnt in base territory i was like a quarter mile from the base back entrance) so the only people that took that road where people that lived in my community since it was right there and people that entered or exited nellis air force base. i was there crying asking for help waving at people but no one helped they looked at me with a "WTF" look. after 1 hour of waving at people some couple offered help. i was super shy so i said can i call my dad from your cell. and then my dad came (pissed off btw cos i flooded the bike and cos he couldnt get it out. but that day i was so scared and damn. i wished someone woulda helped me so keep in mind that and also help fellow dirt bikers, four wheelers, helicopters, airplanes, submarines, boats, jet ski;s, anything! lol |

I am aware of this, and I know that it can be dangerous, that is why I always sum up the situation, like if I can see inside the car, what does the person look like, do they look like they can be trusted, I usually just trust my gut.
