Anyone know anything about 5 speed swaps?
So I've been looking at 240s for a while now and there some really clean all original ones that I like, but are auto and I would like a 5 speed. So I'm just trying to get an idea of how much a swap would run me. Please any advice would be helpful, positive or negative I guess. Thanks guys. Also if you have a 240 for sale let me know

My 5spd swap cost me about $450,with a new clutch and resurfaced wheel. The hardest part is taking out the auto bushing.

There are 2 threads sticky at the top, one specific to S14 with pics, the other more generic, but both are accurate. What the cost will be to you will depend on who you know, and who will be doing the work. There is no way to say what it will cost you, unless an individual is the one selling you the parts and/or installing them for you.

I did the s13 one about half a year ago. It took roughly 7 hours and was 400 bucks. BTW The bolts are out of stock or on back order at most dealerships that I went to. Quick solution go to lowes and get the bolts that are near the same measurements (measurements below. Make sure to bring ur old tranny bolt to measure the width, but there won't be the exact length that you need. The way to get around that is putting spacers- oh and I know that sounds like the ghetto way, but factory bolts are I believe 5 grade where as lowes is 8.8 grade.) All the other technical stuff you need to know for the actual manual labor is on the internet type in automatic to manual 240sx swap. If that doesnt work- (wouldnt know why?) pick up an old copy of project car. Drifting on a budget. It was an issue in 2009 with a white coupe on red XXR rims and a chuki front end. That his pictures, all the stuff / components you need plus other things you can do to get ur car sideways and pricing GL on buying a clean 240. Bought mine automatic a year ago with 89k Original miles and a clean uncracked dash. Since then its been swapped to manual, its got all the strut bars, shirt shifter, momo steering hub/ limited edition 5zigen steering wheel, and tein drift spec winding master coilovers =)
The things that you need: 5 speed transmission 5 speed transmission crossmember 5 speed drive shaft *1 Flywheel 5 Speed Transmission Adapter Plate / Dust Cover Clutch and pressure plate Clutch master cylinder Clutch slave cylinder Clutch pedal Brake pedal *2 Clutch hard line *3 Shifter finishing plate Shift boot Rubber shift boot and metal circle bracket Manual ECU (Optional) Manual Transmission Flywheel Bolts - 12315-42L11 Engine / Bellhousing Bolts Bolts = 08131-0601A / 60mm length / 4 needed Washers = 08915-2401A / 4 needed Bolt = 08131-0701A / 70mm length / 1 needed Washer = 08915-2401A Bolts = 08124-0301F / 35mm / 2 needed Nuts = 08911-2401A / 2 needed Bolt = 08124-0601F / 65mm / 1 needed Nut = 09811-2401A / 1 needed Bolt = 08071-0251A / 25mm / 1 needed Starter Bolts = 01121-03751 / 95mm / 2 needed *1 You will only need the front half shaft. *2 You can use your automatic brake pedal but you will need to cut it in half to make room for the clutch pedal. Just go to the junkyard |
