OBD1 Consult

I have a 1991 240sx Hatch I was looking at ways to get live data and to adjust small things like the IACV and see the timing in live data. The Nissan dealership has an awesome consult pad/computer thing and I noticed they used a cable similar to OBD2 plugs. I did some research and came up with this:

Cable:
ECUTalk - Consult Cables

to be used with this program

Program:
ECUTalk - Consult Software

Is this a safe bet? The cable is $90
Does anyone use this?

EDIT:

I also see Conzult and OBD Scantech Nissan, which is the best program to use?
