Also a 400 whp hachi is a straight drag car and that's an insane car to sit shotgun in. I would know, a very good friend of mine had a SR powered T04S turbo hachi. It was insane. Since you've never seen a decent hachi, I'll link you to these vids YouTube - AE-86 Battle in Tsukuba 2007 Part 1/2 YouTube - AE-86 Battle in Tsukuba 2007 Part 2/2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvPfi-ZeQRM |

Actually, I'd buy 2 decent condition ones for 30K, get the worse of the two's S14 motor (yeah thats the engine code lol) up to 300 hp (NA mind you) and do that. They'd both have 2.5 stroker kits, to bump up the displacement from 2.0, and I'd throw on some Bilstein coilovers, call it a day.

^^ you could get crazy and put an S38 in one of them.
really crazy and add some boost. making the car completely useless. Evo motor + koni/H&R race. that would be a badass ride. (S14 = 2.3L) i have an E30. its bone stock, and 21 years old. but its fun as fuck. modding the suspension this winter.

Lol oops. the s14 engine IS 2.3 liters... I was thinking silvia s14 i think... Yeah I really want to pick up an old e30 325is and do some modding to it. I love those. they would make good touge cars too. Small, cheap, powerful (with mods) and handle well.

mine is an '87 325is. got it with 133k on it, almost zero rust for $1700. the clutch is good, trans shifts awesome. it runs great. small issues to take care of before winter. since ive gotten it though, ive only driven my 240 like 5 times. and i dont miss it.

There are so many cars already pointed out in this thread that would just run rings around it its silly to even think of using the Z. Now Z's have a warm place in my heart (first sports car owned, and no the 510 is a sport sedan) but I am realistic here. You want to know what you could get for 50k that would handle insanely in the mountains? Before I tell what it is, I will preface it with the fact that it was light years ahead of its time and laid the ground work for all mid engined Super Cars. A Superformance, Caroll Shelby approved Ford GT40 Replica! Yes they build them for you in that price range and yes you have your choice of engines. Yes they have even made some refinements in the suspension while staying true to the initial design. The original versions of these cars dominated Le Mans at 200mph and kicked the 512 Ferrari's ass and the Porsche 917's ass.
