KA Swapping out bad crankshaft Ka24de

Hey guys, quick noob question. I picked up an s14 Zenki that hasn’t ran in 2 years, got the car to start and it had a bad rod knock. I pull off the oil pan and the rod bearings are done on cylinders 1-3 so much that the crank has some damage. The rods look fine so my question is can I just pick up a good crank and throw it in with alll new bearings? Any help is appreciated

You are going to need to micrometer the bore of the mains and rods to make sure they aren’t out of round. The the replacement crank to determine bearings size.

Okay, as far as the block goes, machining isn’t necessary unless the bores are lopsided right? Just make sure I have the correct bearings and I should be good?

yup! to re-iterate MEASURE so you don't have it happen again...should be pretty easy as you will have the crank markings and the block markings to match what you need pretty easily!

yeahhhhhhhhhh if you had that much metal shaving in the pan theres a good chance it got sucked up into the oil pickup and there are shavings elsewhere in the engine. I wouldn't trust it unless I had replaced the oil pump and cleaned all the oil passages thoroughly.

i'm a big fan of ultrasonic cleaning, but its super convenient that they're only like 3 miles from my house.

Good point, well I pulled the engine out, might just change the oil pump since it’s out
