? about BMW's
OK, my brother-in-law has a 95 318i that's a manual and has come across a '96 328 that was crashed and the guy is selling the low mileage engine for 500.00. The thing is, is that the 328 is and auto and my bro-in-law wants to keep his car stick. He tells me that he was told by someone else (when he was looking at M3 engines) that he could take the tranny from his 318 and use it w/the M3 motor, so he was curious if it would be the same w/the 328 motor. Now I know that I'm gonna get some ppl saying to check out Bimmer forums blah, blah, blah...but I know alot of you have previously/currently own bimmers and I was wondering if you guys could answer this question for me....please

the answer is probably not. the inline 4 318 tranny is weaksauce... not that a 328 is a power house. I know the m3 can be bolted in between an inline 6 but the 318i car shouldn't. Should require a whole tranny swap etc. Alot of extra stuff. Bimmers are heavy and underpowered anyway.
