it's another to actively enforce something illegal. If you've been reading some of the other threads you will see that this isn't something that's been enforced dilligently. Quote:

I'm actually surprised WI hasn't done this already. I mean we already have the most lenient las against drunk driving in the country. I figured they'd be all over this.

In my opinion this will hurt Breckenridge. It would probably work for some town in the middle of nowhere that has nothing else going for it, but Breckenridge is already one of the most popular tourist/family destinations in Colorado. Once this news spreads more, I doubt people will be very eager to take their children on vacation to the only place in America where marijuana is legal. Plus weed tends to attract a not so desirable crowd, so I will be curious to see how their crime rate and such will compare in a few years.

I think regardless of actual crime rates, families are going to frown on something like that. from a purely economic point of view it's a very risky venture to do this for a town that already has a source of income. exactly how well the town has been doing with their resort might be hard to say with data. could also be that with the economic times, business has been slow. maybe they are desparate. |

Dont hide and shelter your children from the truth ie weed WILL NOT kill you nor hurt you. Just because mom's and dad's dont want there kids around it dont fucking lie to them saying its going to ruin there life's and there going to be worthless bums if they touch it. Best advice. Grow up, establish a life, get a good job and when you are out of school and know whats good for yourself and your family then smoke or dont smoke. But dont let someone else control your life and tell you what not to do or what to do. Do it after you get a life not while your in the middle of trying to make a name for yourself. |

P.s. it said 72% of the town voted yes for it. So im sure the town is not mad about it if almost 3/4 of the population voted for it.

Eh...like someone already said, Colorado is, and has been, pretty lineant in regards to marijuana for some time now.
I remember walking through downtown Denver in like '05 and a couple of bums were smoking a joint maybe 150 yards from the state capitol. This fight will come down to how powerful the anti-drug lobby vs. the pro-legalization lobby really is. Right now this country is drifting back towards the pre-Nixon administration years. Which is fine by me. I guess I just don't have that sense of moral panic over peoples' personal choices. The War on Drugs is bullshit anyway. Far more lives have been ruined due to this "war" than have been "saved". Quote:

that's another can of worms I would hope that employers retain the option of discriminating the hiring/firing of employees. (at least for medical reasons). It's one thing to legalize the substance. It's quite another to force business to hire recreational pot users. (that would be going too far imo). |

I want to make a marijuana test that ONLY test for lets say if you smoked in the past 48 hours or some shit. Just like stupid ass hair test. You could stop smoking pot for 2 or 3 years but yet still come up dirty thats bull shit. So when do you think jobs will start doing blood test or spinal taps and go 10 or 15 years back. Does it really fucking matter if you smoked weed 3 years ago. Company's look at it as if you smoked 3 years ago it will effect you now and your dangerous to work around ppl. |

eh, really they're only going back about three months, and there has to be a certain level of thc in your hair to test positive.
but i still agree 110% with you. and once pot is truly LEGAL, i'm sure a breathalyzer-like test that confirms you're high RIGHT NOW will show up.
