ive been DDing an sr for 5yrs+ and ive been pulled over several times. and had my hood popped once.

its a risk you take. you CHOOSE if its worth it. its common fucking sense.

With the money spent on going ka-t (like he said he wants to) might as well get an SR swap and keep it stock and you will have a good motor that is reliable and stronger than a Ka.

And BTW, you do know that its still illegal to have a bone stock SR right? Atleast with a KA-T, if youre popped, you can just take out the turbo shit, take to ref and call it a day. With an SR, you have to either take the SR out and put the KA back in or pay the hefty fine or both. Take your pick.

BTW, have you ever heard of KA-T.org - The Home of 1000+ whp/7 sec Turbo KA's? You might want to check it out before talking out your ass! Both motors are good for power as long as you have the funds for it...and you do know that SR's are rated from 201hp-250hp depending on which type you get your hands on...and thats at the crank. There are some SRs making 128hp-213hp at the wheels (http://www.driveline.net.au/gallery.php?gallery_id=26). It doesnt make super duper power out the box if that is what you were thinking or implying. KA24DEs make about 155hp at the crank. Below is a dyno sheet of a KA24DE with just HotShot headers and an Injen intake making 152hp (im assuming at the wheels):



People have been making good decent reliable power on KA-T setups...about 200+rwhp on ebay type turbo setups. Its even wiki'd:

Like its been said time and time again...you take a risk in doing any type of illegal mods. My friend had a 93 240sx coupe w/ SR20DET with a whole bunch of goodies installed in it and never got pulled over at all. It was his daily too and a super clean one at that. Only reason he doesnt have it anymore is because he sold it for way more than what he put into it. Sometimes people are just at the wrong place at the wrong time and sometimes people are just asking for it doing stupid shit...but cops do know what to look for and if they dont, they'll call someone who does (in SD anyways). So be safe and cautious everyone. The state budget is messed up and that gives them more of a reason to pull you over...easy ticket and easy money for the state to collect.

YOU ARE GAY! You're just a post whore that has no real advice to provide or anything to contribute to this community. Nuff said! BTW, SR20DET requires illegal smog checks...(about $100-$300+) everytime depending on your hook up. Add that to the mix and SR's are more money than a KA-T setup in the long run which can be removed easily for smogs. KA's can also be had for $300 for a long block. You do the math...if you are capable. Like I said...and I am sure others will agree with me...YOU ARE VERRRY :ghey:.

woah woah woah, as much as i would like to rock SR's, to me its not worth all the hassle living in san diego and using it as a daily....i can wait for that when i go back to japan. Anyways my plans are a FULL JDM EXTERIOR KOUKI, with built ka or ka-t. so yeah its not true jdm, but i could give a rats ass cuz i was born there. as long as it aint MEXICAN rice, i could care less. But thanks for the info, I think the risk doesnt outweight the benefits for this one, especially me being a college student....now if i was loaded, i could care less thanks guys

Ka's blow up after they get even turbo'd by a t-25. I can beat on my Sr all fucken year and not worry about blowing cause it came turbo from the factory. I dont need to get a damn truck engine that id live in constant fear of "When's it gonna blow?" or " If i take it towards redline will it blow?" Shit with sr its nothing to worry about. I drive more mature now than when i used to 2yrs. ago. So im perfectly fine with having a stockish SR that will take me from point A to B without having to buy bolt ons for a ka, headers just to get soem damn power out of it

Or was that only if caught racing on the streets or possible/stolen goods on it?

i think if you are caught with an SR in san diego, it's an automatic impound. no crushing of your car, that i know of.

but in ontario, if you are caught "speed contesting on public roads", then your car is crushed, no questions asked.

just because you beat your SR everyday like i beat your sister, doesn't make it anymore reliable than a ka-t. i've seen SRs go to shit in about... 3 months.

I would just like to add that my daily driver is rocking an s13 red top with a huge front mount... I think the inter cooler weighs half as much as the fucking transmission I swear. It's rocking candy apple red ass wheels, it's going to be rocking your girlfriends mouth and the only reason i'm going to get pulled over because it will be too hot for the streets.

My second daily duty machine is going to be KA-T, I actually have the motor in pieces right now deciding on what i'm going to replace... I mean you look at the big picture, cars are going to cost me money regardless.

as long as I have a job, as long as I can buy parts, and as long as I have 4 limbs to turn a wrench, drink a brew, and fuck my girl... I will do what I enjoy in life and deal with whatever consequences it brings.

I could die tomorrow, and regret not living my life the way I wanted to.

So are both of my friends cars still running strong after beating on it and even taking it to Balcony? I swear...you are eh biggest fanboy here. Do yourself a favor and STFU already. Just because it came fromt he factory doesnt mean its going to last forever or that its bullet-proof. And i hate when people say the KA is a truck motor. Yes, it was available in trucks but it was also available in Altima's and some other car that in Japan (i forget teh name) only. Hmm...$2k for SR or $200 for some headers. Do the math again idiot. You can have fun with an N/A motor. My AE86's 4AGE is N/A and loads of more fun to drive than my 240. Like it was stated before...YOU'RE GAAAAY and everyone agrees. Case settled! Still waiting on that mod list...I'm sure I have spent more on my car in the last year than you have had yours. Care to challenge or ar you just a 'FANBOY' that talks the talk but when it comes down to it...cant back his shit up. My suspension alone (coilovers only...not including any arms) costs more than your SR setup kid. Get a life!
