who's had seats shipped or recieved? get in here? advice needed.
For those of you that have bought non-reclinable racing seats such as bride, recaro, any expensive seat...how did you package/protect the seat for shipping??? or if you bought one...how was it packaged/protected when it arrived at your doorstep? I really need some advice...dont want the seat to get damaged during shipment. I know theres in insurance avaliable but I would rather not go that route and want to try to prevent all/any damage.

when i bought my bride from a guy in australia, i wasnt happy when i received it as it was thrown into a black garbage bag and then slapped on the shipping label on that. luckily for me it wasnt damaged but i would never ship a seat like that even if it was a cheap ebay knock off

i bought a non reclinable from jhot-imports on ebay and they wrapped it in that saran-wrap stuff for shipping, and then strapped it to a packing crate (the wooden ones that you lift with a forklift). and a big label saying "DO NOT STACK ANYTHING ON" i was WAY impressed. when i bought my recaro srd the guy wrapped it in 3 layers of cardboard and then what looked like an entire roll of duct tape and then just ups-ed it. that worked well too.

Two situations
I have RECEIVED a bucket seat from Japan It was basically a cardboard wrapped seat. I mean, the guy took the seat and wrapped it in cardboard as CLOSE as possible. It looked like a cardboard seat was on my porch when I got home. When I SHIP seats out (which I do a lot) I use UPS (I do NOT like UPS though), and I take the seat and put thick pads of bubble wrap on each part of the seat that comes in contact with the box around it. UPS are asshole kids most of the time so they don't give a shit. I have shipped a few reclinable seats that were returned because they slam the boxes down and break the reclinining mechanism (carbon seats). I never shipped a regular bucket that came back damaged.

When I got my s15 seats shipped from japan. They came in a big box and the seats were wrapped in bubble wrap. And then set beside each other. They looked like new when they got here.
