clusterfizzle of a 240sx story
sup all, new member and new owner of a 91 240sx, partially sr20det-swapped. i should be happy, except this is a mixed post. the title i received has the wrong signature and may not be transferable if the seller ducks out and stops answering messages/phone calls. if this is the case this post goes from 'yay i got an almost-complete s13' to a part out post. secondly this car may have been bought from a police auto auction after a search and seizure. which wouldn't be a problem, but i'd like to know why the person reporting the stolen motor didn't reclaim it and left it in the seized vehicle it was swapped into. are there any members here that remember an s13 theft from august 09 in the b'more area? don't bs me, i have the affadavit in front of me with the person's name as well as the thief's and the shop he dropped it all off at. i just want to know the resolution to the issue, not necessarily sell it to someone. i can't understand why he'd leave the motor in the car if he reported it in the first place. anyway, hopefully someone here can help me out. cheers.

an update - i found out the details of this car, and instead of ending up with one, i now own this red 91 240 and a black 90 240 shell from which the motor was stolen from...it's a mess. i've still yet to fix the title issue on the red one, but i'll be transferring the motor back to its rightful chassis asap. but long story short the car i asked about is legit...just with a title issue that i can't get in contact with the previous-previous owners of. and i now own the theft victim's black 240, since he was the owner of both. i was offered to be paid back for the red 240 cuz it was too much of a headache for the guy, but i'd feel like a douche taking money back from him when he can't get money from the lawsuit. so i bought his shell lol.
now for the more important question - does anyone have some sort of guide for hooking up the myriad hoses and lines to the motor and tranny? this is my first swap and somewhat not my choice, but i can't afford to pay someone to complete this for me. i'll have to run inventory on what's been cut that i can figure out, but i know for sure the fuel lines have been cut and i think coolant lines need to be reconnected to the motor. they also took a hammer to the right side of the dash to snip a harness in there i need to identify. i'll post pics soon, thanks in advance if anyone can help! |
