A few power output questions....
Howdy, first time poster here in texas.
So we are nearing the completion of the build and I will post pictures and goodies then, but I was curious on how much power I should make with the set up we have going on and how much power is safe. When I say safe, I mean for city cruising with the occasional drag strip pulls and some healthy driving, not going to be bouncing the rev limiter at drift events or anything. So we cleaned and sleeved the stock sr20 red top block, ported the heads, added Tomei Cams, upgraded fuel pump, fuel rail and 1050 injectors, Greddy intake manifold, upgraded the MAF and slapped a GT3076R on it. We are still running stock pistons and crank however. The car is getting buttoned up and my tuner, who will remain nameless for now, is saying we should be able to get close to 450 on 93 and close to 500 on e85. We are running a stock S13 tranny but did upgrade the clutch with a spec dual plate system and a short throw. Exterior of the car looks bone stock, straight panels with some amazing 25 year old paint. |

stock pistons with nissan spec rings gaps won't last long if they make that much power
the crank will take it, stock rods are same as the pistons imo don't try it,your tuner is maybe not familiar with OE nissan parts |

indeed the gearbox will be the weak link at that power level s13 has open bearings so the gear oil can flow through them to the tail shaft under hard acceleration, s14 has shielded bearings to lessen oil surge but it still flows past the bearings, s14a or Kouki has a trap door fitted into the center plate for better oil control, 3rd gear will most likely fail as the shafts flex under power and the gears repell and teeth shear off as they disengage you will need a z32 300zx '89 on gearbox or something similar power capable to be reliable |
