Stock 95 240 dies at idle

I have a stock 95 240sx that runs rough and dies at idle after it has warmed up! seems to run ok at higher rpm but when you come to a stop the car usually dies, also has a smell when you park it like a stuck choke on an older car would have!!!
Check engine light was on for a while but it went off by itself!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check for vacuum leaks, check timing, check fuel, etc.

and clean your throttle body. Mine was doing the exact thing when I first got it. After cleaning the TB, problem went away.

I am pretty sure this is an iacv issue. If not that, then fueling. But check that IACV first.

Dont think its the IACV because it is also cutting out at higher speeds,
blowing black smoke

welcome to hell

my car was dying after braking to a stop at lights, also not maintaining an idle, etc
so, with much aggravation, i replaced the IACV.
nothing changed so the 240 hasn't had tags for three years now. have fun!

check out your CEL or MIL code at Autozone, or Advance, they pull the codes for free, so that may give you and idea of where the problem is occurring. the code should still be in your system, unless you used a scan tool to erase it. eliminate the IACV first, since 240s have that issue. mine did now it doesn't cut out at idle then we can go from there.

going over to the parents' house and pulling the s13 out of its sarcophagus tonight, gonna give that a shot and plug my brake booster line to see if it's a bad brake booster diaphragm.
fuck my life.

edit: now i have a stuck injector. if you own a car you care at all about, be sure to fire it up once a week or so, just to keep things working.

went to the junkyard, pulled six fresh injectors, replaced my broken one (see pic for the HORROR), and now she purrs like a 17 year old feral cat. covered in shit.

anyhow, i capped off the brake booster vac line and gave it a spin around the block and didn't dip or die once. the problem is obviously a shot diaphragm, so i ordered a new brake booster from autozone. gonna run a few new grounds as well. then a new header and i should actually be running again. fuck my life

top= a new one
bottom= the old one
