Tires Rubbing Bottom of spring seat after replacing with KYB AGX. S14
Ok so the low down. ( see picture below)
Before I had stock struts with Eibach lowering springs [purchased when I got the car] . The front shocks were shot to hell.. So I Picked up a set of KYB AGX struts with stock springs on it. Installed the rear fine. Had problems with the front, my tires are hitting the bottom of the spring seat (on both sides). So figured it was because the stock springs, so I put the eibach lowering springs on the KYBs and same thing. The struts are not bent and are on the correct sides and have the same tires on. I have 18's and they fit fine before . What can I do to correct this? Should I put spacers on, if so why did this happen? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks The struts look identical to the OEM ones and came from another s14. Need this corrected till I can get coil-overs down the road. |

The actual perch may be different in overall size/construction thus causing the interference. Some small spacers will work, 5 may just cut the mustard, 10 will clear for sure.

Know of any reputable places to purchase the spacers? I searched and found a variety of different styles, this will be the first time I've endeavored into using spacers. Thanks in advance!

ANy of the major advertisers here should offer them, just be aware that you'll need to decided between bolt on, and slip on...if you go with slip on, you'll need longer studs in order to have proper engagement.

Still stupefied how this wasn't a direct swap. I swear they look identical LOL
You mentioned 5 would do fine. Are you referring to 5 actual slide on spacers or 5 mm bolt on spacers? Again, Ive never used spacers, so have no clue what I'm getting into. I found some that are $80 to $100. Is it that costly for small spacers? |

5mm spacers should still work on the stock studs. Check kragens or autozone, they should have some 5mm slip ons. Worst case scenario, find an aftermarket wheel dealer (Donk shops), I got my 3mm from one of those places for $15 for a pair.

when you bolted the struts down on the bottom, the top bolt has room for camber adjustment. Is it pulled all the way back? If it is, 5MM spacers should do it.

There should be an eccentric bolt on there. You should be able to take some camber off and push the top of the wheels further out from the top of the strut.
Also, out of curiousity, what size tires are you running? Looks bigger/taller than its supposed to be compared to stock diameter. |

I had the same issue after installing AGX front struts on my S14. I ended up buying some Ichiba 15mm spacers. These spacers use extended wheel studs and an aluminum hubcentric spacer. I used google shopping to find the best deal and then ended up purchasing them on ebay from the search.
