I know, right? If that happens, I think my interest would immediately dry up. I don't want a car even MORE underpowered than the FRS... Tuner-friendly turbo or bust! I doubt Kia is gonna step up to the plate. Maybe Mazdaspeed will listen with the new Miata.

Agreed.
While of course this has to be taken with a grain of salt I just hope this car doesn't end up the way of the actual 240sx revival or (worse?) end up delivering but has the same or equal power to the frs/brz and costs thousands more to boost. If that happens I will likely jump over to a WRX.

I'll take a bone stock QR25 with 200 hp before I touched a turbo car making less power. Fuck the tiny MR all day long. Low displacement is for commuting not having fun, turbo or not.
If the IDx ends up looking like this \/ I'll be pricing used FRSs/BRZs. DO NOT WANT. There might be some compromises and reworking to get the IDx more in line with the rest of the fleet but I don't think slapping on that styling like Infiniti got the Essence styling will work.

^^^Can I be honest about something, guys? I actually kinda like that sports concept & as mush as I like the IDX concepts, I wouldn't be mad if it came out looking like a coupe of this thing.

The sports sedan concept is a good looking design as well and it seems more production ready with the current nissan design language. I would not be mad if this design transfers to the IDx either. |

The bucktooth grill and carbon winglets kill it entirely for me. Take off all the aggro lines and details and it's just another blah mid sized sedan.

And I'll say it again: I wouldn't mind if the QR made it into the line up as the base engine. But I'd still prefer the MR engine stroked out to a 2.0t. Easy recipe for a torquey 280hp Nismo version.

i somehow really doubt this car will debut as N/A. with toyota and subaru already looking at ways of bumping up power in the FRS/BRZ (either displacement or turbo) for its next iteration and ford/GM releasing the Camaro AND Mustang in 4 cyl turbo... nissan would be flat out dumb to release the IDX with a measly 180hp on an almost 3000lbs chassis. the IDX will need AT LEAST 220+hp turbo to be anywhere near competitive in the price class its going to be placed in!
the only big thing toyota and subaru have on their side with the FRS/BRZ is weight! 200hp in a 2700lbs car is fine, it doenst burn the tires off but its enough to keep the car competitive in the 20k range. with ford and GM (and possibly mazda with the new miata being turbo), nissan and toyota HAVE to step up their game. 180hp N/A is going to be DOA |

Neither would I. I would imagine it being a bit more slim if it was a 2 door couple and honestly that is a mean looking front. I personally have not had an issue with Nissan's styling on the cars. I think the 370z, GTR, Maxima, etc all look good in their own way. My concern is the drive train and price. It needs to costs the same or less than a base BRZ and be turbo. Period.

I think a coupe would be nice. Sort of looks like its taking the aggressive lines in the way the 2014 Lexus IS has its styling.

According to the freshest news, the IDX will NOT be produced with the styling that attracted everyone's attention. Instead, it will look like some f*ck child of the disgusting, revolting 370z and the equally horrendous Juke. This is the last straw, Nissan. I'm f*cking done with your b**lshit. IDX has been removed from my car wish list. I'll be buying an FR-S instead.

Fixed that for you.
IDx Nismo or I'm out. There's a BRZ or new Miata out there with my name on it. It looks like the newest nissan thing I'll own is an updated QR swap potentially.

Considering how much smaller the Z is going to be and the fact that they were going to share a chassis and powertrain I think we all called it as a viable option. I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan claims the IDx as a design study to gauge the market for a smaller Z.
