5.1/4" speakers in the front?

has anyone managed or know how to fit 5.1/4" speakers in the front of a s13 240SX?

im purchasing one soon, and I want to transfer my system from my civic over to the 240... i run Alpine Type R 5.1/4" component system in the front of the civic, but I just found out that the 240 runs mini 6x9's (forget what size they really are)... has anyone been able to create custom brackets to fit 5.1/4" or 6.5"??

1.) Search is king

2.) Mini 6x9's????

6x9 is 6x9.... if there were such a thing as a mini 6x9 then wouldnt the dimensions be smaller henceforth cancelling the part "6x9" from its name. Thats like me saying there's a smaller 4" speaker that some people like to call a tweeter...

My 90 Coupe has 4x6 in front and 6.8" in rear...

mini 6x9s. pwhaahahha ROFLLMFAO..

anyways, just cut out some custom baffles out of wood for the fronts and you can easily fit 5 1/4 or even 6 1/2 inch speakers in there. you can also make them out of plexi glass, but cutting plexi glass is a bitch.q

You'll have to make a pattern of the old speaker frame and then create a new "frame" to hold the speakers. I used 2 clear plastic "drink trays" I found in the housewares department at Wal-Mart. They are about 1.5 feet in diameter and 1/8 of an inch thick. Get the clear ones so you can trace the speaker frame pattern onto them and cut them out with tin snips (or a hacksaw).

Heres the pattern I came up with.

I fit Boston Z6's (6.5) in my S13 doors so I know it will fit. Had to make mounting brackets though. Use MDF its the easiest.

If you use 1/4" MDF you can even use the stock screws.

I am running MB Quart Reference series Componants with the crossover velcro'd inside the door, and the tweeters mounted in the upper corner of the door skin (near dash)
