A friend of mine's real into MGs, and we were talking about them a bit.
Anyway, does anyone know where I can get a nice specs/review/information site or something about them?

Also, what company made them?

Just wondering if anyone here knows. Thanks in advance.

don't quote me on this, but to my knowledge MG is a company of its own, so nobody makes MG but MG. &nbsp;I think they are a much older cars and most of them are consider antiques or classic cars because i don't think they are still in business, at lease not in the US. &nbsp;I know MG is european possibily british? &nbsp;i've seen only 1 on the street and most of 'em in magazines.

you're right. they're not made in the US anymore. They were produced here for a little while in the 70s, maybe into the early 80s. They're cute little convertible things, a little bigger than the miata.

And actually, they are still in business, and they're making new-model MGs in ...well, Britain at least if not all of Europe, and Australia I think. No new ones here though. My friend had a magazine, showed a bunch of the new ones.

MG stands for Morris Garages. &nbsp;William Morris opened a bicycle repair garage in Oxford, England in the early 1900's. &nbsp;The first MG motorcar was produced in the early 1920's.

The company built many fine automobiles, including the MG T series and the Morris Minor.

The company became part of BMC, then British Leyland, which included Triumph, Austin, Rover.

I don't believe they ever manufactured in North America, but I'm doing this from memory. &nbsp;I believe they were all imported from England.

The company is currently MG-Rover. &nbsp;The cars are not imported into North America. &nbsp;MG powered Lolas run at Le Mans & in the ALMS.

just another note, for the years between late 60s and early 80s, MG was owned by british leyland motor group along with austin-healy and triumph

they do still exist in brittain and elsewhere, they are currently on the "f" it's a cool car, in the same sport coupe class as the silvia was, sporty, but not a hard core sports car

i really love the old "t" series, my dad just bought an MGA and used to own an MGB

MG Midgets are awsome! My dad had one when he was in High School. He's told me stories about how well it handled and everything. There's one for sale down the road a ways from my house. It looks like a brand new paintjob. looks real nice.

Didn't MG own MINI at one point. I know BMW owns Mini now but wasn't it the "MG Mini Cooper" or I could be totally lost I don't know.

I like Triamph TR-6's too. They are a cool looking little roadster.

I had a 1959 Austin-Healey Sprite. &nbsp;Great little car. &nbsp;Later Sprites were also sold as MG Midgets. &nbsp;The original Mini and Mini Cooper were Austins, all part of British Leyland.

The breal-up of British Leyland has lead to a few interesting situations. &nbsp;As you note BMW owns the Mini name. &nbsp;They also own the Rolls-Royce name. &nbsp;VW owns the rest of Rolls, but not the name. &nbsp;That's why we're seeing a push to the Bentley name, which VW does own.

Red98- It's interesting how all that works. Car companies being, in reality, strung together like that. Thanks for the info, just the sort of site I was looking for.

Dave- that MGR-V8 looks real fine. they kept the old styling but updated everything else.
