noob question common flaws about 93 300z

okay well im really a s14 guy but my younger brother bought a 300zx the other day. I was just wondering what are some of the common things that go out with these cars. Ive read that the fuel pump is one of them. But i just wanna know more. hes just about to start his first year of college so before he goes off to school i wanna make sure his car is as good as i can get before he leaves. Thanks in advance

I has a tt z32 before my s13 so I can inform you.

Fuel pumps are good they hardly ever go.bad.

Common problems are.
-old style injectors are prone to failure.
-coolant hoses usually tend to crack and leak do to the excessive amount of heat in the cramped bay
-idle issues.
-cooling system is old so it is prone to heating issues.
- its a 20 year old car, its gonna have problems.

Be sure to do a full 120k maint kit right away. Unless you like broeken motora
And only use OEM parts when it comes to maintenance.
.
300zxclub.com and twinturbo.net will be your best friends

Also corrosion is a big thing with the electrical connectors, clean the connectors and I promise most issues will disappear.

The 2 websites I gave you contain awesome write Ups and info.

The search function also works 100 timea better.then zilvias since the site is better organized into sub sections.

So search first Then ask if you cant find the answer.

No problemo!

Yeah maintenance is the biggest thing with these cars. Simply because many owners neglect it do to the cost/labor/hard work it is to get it done.

at very least make sure the T belt, Idler pulleys, water pump, and T stat get changed. (with only oem)

other than then the motors are pretty solid and will last you 200k+ if taken care of properly.

oh and one more common problem,
The 4th gear synchro tends to grind when shifting fast.
