ALUTEC Brace vs Nismo Power Brace
I did a search and couldn't find much information on this.
Has anyone tried the ALUTEC Under hood brace (For S13)? It looks like it does exactly what the NISMO powerbrace does but for a fraction of the cost. Feel free to chime in with thoughts &/or experiences. |

Well it's a bar welded between your tension rod braces. Try not to think to hard about it.
Take this with a grain of salt: I wont buy a damn thing from nismo. I had their engine mounts and HAVE their tranny mount now. I can't notice a difference over stock at all and nismo mounts are pushing $300. Disgusted. Swap i have now uses hocky puck mounts that ran me like $15 to make. Still using the nismo tranny mount and it holds but that's only because my mounts aren't stock ones with a higher price tag..... F*ck em.

Another option is the Ultra Racing 4-pt under brace. It's a full H-brace that goes between the tension rod supports & LCA's as well as gives longitudinal support... Unlike the Circuit Sports/ALUTEC, they cost about 40-50 bucks more, but you get a couple extra degrees of support..,. Also (experience talking) with the Ultra Racing brace, you need to be careful if using anything other than the OEM sway bar... Mine didn't clear my Tanabe sway bar and requires modification... But it's a cool piece. BTW NoPistons! the first major difference between the OEM tranny mount and the Nismo you should have noticed was that the Nismo tranny mount is HUGE compared to OEM. As for Nismo engine mounts; you may have a lot of other things on your car in need of repair... Although not dramatic, there is a definite difference in feel between the two- Nismo are stiffer, resulting in more overall vibration when running... But better power transfer as the motor isn't sucking up as much of the torque that should be going to the wheels.

One last note about bracing your tension rods... You will notice a degree of understeer after installation... You may or may not like the effect... It takes some getting used to.

NoP, you were funny lol. I'm not sure how you couldn't feel a difference in mounts unless nismo was OEM rubber or something. But back on topic.
Thanks for the responses you guys. I decided to go with alutec over nismo because of the price point and the fact that it appears to do the same thing. Minister, that brace looks sweet but I'm not sure what sway bars to get yet and i want to keep my options open. As for the handling changing, I think I should be able to dial it in with the correct suspension upgrades but time will tell. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |
