ok I obviously dont know anything, so help me out here, but why the hell are ppl trying to hide front mount intercoolers and turbos?
is it because you just dont want cops pulling you over and giving you tickets for things that are actually legal, but the cops are stupid and will ticket you anyways

or is it because those are actually illegal??

thats rediculous, they are fantastic for emissions, I have to pass emmissions standards here in BC canada (its called aircare) anyways, they also have emissions standards in Japan, so im really confused.

Within minutes you would get pulled over and i dont know if you're being sarcastic. Engine swaps are legal in california as long as ALL emissions and OBD plugs and shit are there. Yes SR's pass emissions with no problem, but they fail visual and dont have an OBD plug which i think is fucking useless because emissions is all they care about anyways.

Well, you definitely know nothing about California's smog nazi laws. lol... In Cali, anything that isn't stock and doesn't have a CARB stamp on it is illegal (basically).

If you drove that Skyline through Cali, you might get pulled over. In fact, you probably would. But, you're from Canuckistan, so as long as your license is legit, they couldn't do anything to you.

even though the rb and sr engines are illegal people shit use them and of course u have to lie to the officier my favorite line "I bought it like this." and to be tech about it they can only look but they cant remove anything in the engine bay because they would be putting the there hands on ur property and u could sue them if it broke some how and also covers on turbos and stuff like that is a great idea because out here in cali cops love to pull u over from cracked windsheilds too worn tires.

such as putting a turbo on an NA engine.
But if the car came with a turbo then you can upgrade the system? no? yes?

i think the easiest thing is i you have family in any close state then have your car registered there i have my rhd sr powered 180sx still registered in idaho and a cop pulled me over for expired tag but i know it was for my exhaust i told him they were up to date just cause theyre different but i think he felt stupid for walking up on the wrong side of the car but they cant do shit about it cause it doesnt fall under their laws lol kinda like i got street immunity

lol i agree with the out of state plates. thats what i did as well. you need to put their name on the title too though. and for all of the military personnel like me, you can run out of states plates with no problem and have no need to register your car with this state and its hippie laws! yay!

Be careful with that 'ish. If the car is in your name, registered and has plates from Idaho and you're driving on a Cali license you may end up getting your car impounded. Up here in MA, if you've been in the state longer than 30 days you are required to register the vehicle in MA and change to a MA license. If you don't and you get pulled over, they will impound the vehicle on the spot. Of course, the burden of proof is on them to prove that you've been there longer than 30 days but whatever. I've still got FL plates and a FL license though I've been in MA for 3 years. If I get pulled over, as far as they know, I'm just passing through the state!

fuck guys.... you all over looked one loophole... im so disappointed. I have a black top SR, i took the injen C.A.R.B sticker from the Ka intake. bought a shinny front mount IC. and simply modified the intake to fit the intake to the turbo and put the carb sticker on the intake and the injen dyno prove performance sticker on the hotpipe. and passed the test with CHP... i live in sacramento and DD everyday with a brite red S-13 with a body kit and gold 962's. bottom line... get creative and keep a positive attitude when you get pulled over, dont be defensive. I have pictures but probly not gonna post them cause i hate dealing with computer bullshit.

Turns out though that my HKS intercooler should be carb legal as hks intercoolers are.. but my model part number is off by 1 digit..

I bet this would fly though if the parts where not polished an a hks carb legal filter

rx7 FD upper intake manifold, front mount intercooler.... as opposed to the original top mount

I bought it like this always works for me here in O.C. dumbass cops always beleive me for some reason i even had a cop call the chevy dealer once right in front of me ( to ask if my truck came with HID's, Headers, and Intake) thank god they had my back and told him I bought the truck like that (or i would have been screwed) then he just let me go with a warning saying "dont come through my city again" lol i live here idiot.

What exactelly do you mean? There is still a visible turbo. Im sure even if you have a carb legal intake and a turbo they are still going to send you to a ref. I've seen that process used on non carb intakes.. but thats much more simple.
