looking for an easier gear combo. Currently at 46/16. How does 48-18 sound? I am looking for an easier ride.

Anyone still riding?

Been riding like im training lately.

Did the Wheres Waldo Alley Cat today.
Brutal and gnarly.
burned every red but 2 and towed on two cars.
Gonna start riding with the team that took the top 3 spots.
guys got legs like my chest, lol

gonna do the Veledrome this wednesday too i think.
Prolly also start doing some legwork in the gym to get more muscle faster.

Still the same red and black bike with a 46/16 and a front brake for emergencies.

^lol, nice.
Did longrain position those horns like that?
I would bring em up just a little.
Or your wrist will tell you to do it after your first 20 mile ride.
those should be nice for climbing up hills, thats the one thing i dont like about drops.
Its all or nothing on hills, no middle zone like the horns give ya

if your into skidding on your fixie,i would go with the thickslicks. if its wet where you live you might wanna get some gator skins though.
The slicks are slicks, lol. they are really thick on the contact part, so they last a long time.

mostly i use gatorskins. the lasted 6 months of skidding, and shitty ass saudi arabia roads on the FTP.

the FTP is more nimble than the visp, but not by toooo much.

the visp is HELLA twichy with no hand on the bars. i ate shit hard one day when a gust of wind took me down

I did not know this thread existed, but here is my share.

The blue motobecane is mine, and the red is my cousins.

Love the color of my bike. I plan to upgrade a few parts like pedals and cages. I also plan to get some brakes on it. I was always scared riding my bike without them. The bike came with one front brake, but they are crap and just simply of poor quality.

These aren't mine. They are my cousin's and thought i'd share them.

sorry for the iphone pictures. they are all instagramed out.

dont front brakes make you fly over the handle-bars?
why no back brakes?
What are the stickers in the wheels for?
I see a lot of ppl complain about the ones that run disk wheels. I have never really read an answer as to why they complain about it though.
Is free-wheel hubs taboo?

Why many fixed gear bikes don't have brake?
I hated those idiots run thru red lights/stop signs/ from middle of no where

Not if you put your weight towards the back of the bike, then no you won't fly over the bars.
The stickers, I THINK, started for bike races and would put their numbers or whatever in their wheel. Once again, I think that's what it is. Kids just do it now because they think it is cool.
Free wheel hubs are cool if you want to coast every now and then. Once you are board of that, you can just flip it.

Because kids think that's cool. I don't have brakes, but planing to get some both the front and back. Running through the lights and stop signs is stupid. When I did ride my bike, I would obey the road laws.

Since you guys seem to know your shit,Ill ask my build questions here if that's OK.

I have an old Schwinn frame. with horizontal dropouts.
I have the color scheme picked out.
The guy at the bike shop said I might have to bend the frame in to accommodate new wheels? I don't want deep V wheels. Id like wheels similar to these:

or I guess I could custom lace my spokes?
Anyone know where to find a good set of yellow fixie hubs?

I have straight bars from a DH/Dj mountain bike, I was gonna put em on my old single speed that I bought.
that or re-wrap my drop bars in dark tan leather, with a seat to match.

The rest of the build Is pretty straight forward I assume. I have a small budget, but I'm starting from a complete old road bike.

This is as close to the frame color I can find, but the end result will have more of a green hue to it and will be more classic than bright.. I think I've seen a closer color on a Volvo but cant find it.
