gzilla_'s R32 GTR Build.
Hello everyone,
What's going on! Mike here. I imported my R32 GTR around late October 2016. The car has a R34 RB26DETT with low mileage. Car has zero rust and was resprayed last year. I got it a for a steal. The whole journey was awesome. I flew into Canada and bought the car from a friend. I drove straight to the border from the airport. I had zero issues at the border and I was in/out in less than an hour with zero paperwork filled out when I got there. This is my 14th car that I've owned since I've started driving and by far the best. (Coming from Evo's, STi's, etc) (I do hate the attention it grabs but you learn to deal with it). I've always wanted one and finally get to own it. So winter was obviously near and I decided that I want to do as much preventative maintenance as I could before racing the car in 2017. My buddy John and I started taking the car apart to repair some minor leaks and replace gaskets. As we were taking off the head, there were some imperfections in the block. Fast forward, the "preventative maintenance" turned into an all-out build. A friend on here said you should make a thread and document your build. So here I am, making a thread to share my progress. I am building the car primarilyfor Hill Climb / Auto-X so I'm looking to make between 500-600whp reliable power and then turn it up on a rare occasion if I ever feel the need to. If you have Instagram, @gzilla_ and if you have YouTube, @gzilla_ for progress as well. I love to follow builds and vlogs so I'd love to see what else is going on out there. Thanks, Mike Last edited by gzilla_; 01-11-2017 at 01:11 AM.. |

I second questioning the p/s delete. So hard turning these things without it. Nonetheless, looks like you're off to quite the start! Keep it up!

Sparco buy did not work out as planned so I waited around to see what else I could find. I stumbled upon not one but two! Here are the new cockpit seats for the project.

Finally got to spend some time with the car today. Did some pulling of the interior and here's a few parts I had sitting around, more to come!

Today was a clean up day. Since we had the car gutted, we wanted to remove all the gunk that was underneath the carpet. Here's a before/after! Moving along nicely. Next on the to do list will be the back seat/trunk area so we can prep for the fuel cell! Before! DSC00295 by @mephoto_, on Flickr After! Did the rear section and trunk last night. I still have little bits and pieces that are somewhat harder to remove. I started sanding down the floor and will continue to do more tonight so we can prep it for paint. Will be ordering another big piece for the build tomorrow!

We finally laid down the interior paint (3 coats). It looks good in person and happy with the result! We have a lot left over and will be covering the undercarriage with a coat as well. Covered up some in the trunk but the fuel cell will be showing up on Thursday so we did not paint it all since we'll probably be cutting out the spare tire well.

It has finally arrived!! The next big part to this build. We mocked up some possible ideas last night and have decided we are going to drop it flush and cut out the spare tire well. We will building a cage that will carry the tank and will serve its purpose/look good! We have our hands full for now so stay tuned!

Bought some new seats, wheels and the clutch setup! Also got updates from the machine shop today. Block is done, head is almost finished and I should have it back by the first week in July!
