That's what happens when you make 90 star wars games and not a sequel to grim fandango

I hate sellouts.. First Lucas Arts sells out to disney.. Now Disney is selling it out to whoever.. IT will never be the same.. |

They might be looking to just license the names to other developers to make games, rather than do this in-house. They can also focus on Lucas Films which should yield a better ROI (IMO).

Good point. This means we could actually get some pretty good games out of this. Imagine if Bethesda or Bioware picked up the license.

That being said, it is still sad to see how one of the greatest game developers of the 90's has fallen, though Disney only put them out of their misery. By the way, this does not mean the end of Star Wars games, as some people worry. As SimpleS14 said, they will license the titles to other developers, which may actually result in much better quality games, since Lucas Arts only churned out disappointments in the past few years. Or it may result in Star Wars games with no violence and Mickey Mouse playing Yoda. Only time will tell. I do not really care about Star Wars. Monkey Island I & II will always be among my favorite games. |

NOTE: George Lucas is the 2nd largest Shareholder of Disney
If you guys don't already know, ol George is the largest living shareholder to Disney (estate of Steve Jobs is the largest). So, as much as you like to think your childhood is being destroyed, its not. What is happening is George Lucas basically used Disney's money to pay his own personal bank accounts for the name of the Star Wars franchise. This makes him Uber wealthy, yet he still has control. The money isn't protected in a corporate account anymore, its a personal account or trust. Doing this, it allows him to 'cut' out a lot of stuff that isn't doing anything. Lucas Arts will evolve into something better or smaller in a different name, and the titles will still be better. I don't think any of you really see the bigger picture. Its called hardcore downsizing while being rich and keeping total control. Stop living in the past.

best way i think to watch the movies these days is to watch episode 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6. 1,2,3 will serve as a flash back memory between episodes 5 and 6.
yea man, pretty sad that lucasarts got shut down. It was such an awesome developer back in the day..... it sucked the past 10 years. |
