S14 Boost Issue

Alright the car is an S14 with a S14 SR. When I go WOT the car gets 7lbs and slowly creeps up to 11. Now the thing is anwhere below 4500 the car instantly gets the 7lbs and stays dead on it. After about 4500 the boost creeps up to 11 but stays there and doesnt increase. Is this just normal creep? I thought if it was creep it would keep rising.

Thanks,
ALI

What are you running for boost control? If someone installed the factory boost solenoid I believe that is its correct function

Sounds like what mine used to do. I'd say normal.

Where is the solenoid placed? Stock ECU, no boost controller.

unlikely its a stock boost solenoid, normally they are not shipped over with the motorsets because the part is attached to the chassis. I think what ur seeing is pretty normal. look to see if you still have the stock WGA on the turbo.

Yea I still have the stock actuator on the turbo. What if I change out to one of those HKS wastegates? Would I get a steady boost pattern?

youll have a better boost pattern ,
your actuator is most likky going out
i recommend to change it, because my friends boost gauge was doing the same thing
,we replaced it and it was good but he got the stock actuator but i rather get the hks one

Check your engine bay to see if you have the factory boost control solenoid, there's been debate on whether the solenoid is only to help spool up time (with max boost at 7psi) or if the boost solenoid increases boost to 10-11psi.

Should be along the vacuum hose going to your wastegate actuator.

I'm interested on the results, I haven't read any solid proof anywhere about this matter.

I will try my best. Ill look through it when I go home (at work)

The funny thing is that until 4500 where it slowly goes up to 11lbs, its only at like .4 BAR which is like 5 or 6lbs not 7.

I have a Defi gauge so I recorded a coulpe WOT runs and was looking at them.
