'97~'98 240sx se/le California + Questions
Sup. I'm looking for a 97 or 98 240sx w/ manual transmission within the state of California. I have been searching for one for quite a while now and had many 'close encounters' to buying one but failed to do so (either ad for the car was old and had already been sold or I was one step behind another person in reaching the seller). I am starting to give up hope on ever finding a 97,98 240sx for sale... If you guys have time or want to help out a guy find his 'dream car,' please do so. Help of any sort would be appreciated (ads, links, phone numbers, address of seller, newspaper cuz' i might have overlooked something, etc). I am planning to get one within this month or am going to wait until the car turns up somehow...
Thx guys. questions, comments you need to help me? Ill answer... And this is the question I had in mind: How hard is it to find a manual transmission for 97-98 240sx? If all else doesn't work, I might be able to buy an automatic 240 and just have a transmission swap done on it. The problem is, I have no freakin' clue where to start to look for it and have no idea where to have it swapped once I have everything I need... hmm... as long as I am gonna do a tranny swap maybe I should save up for sr20 engine swap as well. n/m , can't get too ahead here... Again, any help would be appreciated and thx. KrushMasta222 |

Or you can get a 95-96 and do a conversion. Or you can buy my car for ONLY $14321.95. =P Manual, 98, 5Zigen catback, Injen CAI, stock sideskirts, Tein HE coilovers, POS carbon fiber hood, very ugly sunroof, 3 180SX Type-X rims and 2 S12 rims, only been in two accidents... You know you want it. =P Hehheh but yah, 97+ are hard to find. Might wanna consider just converting the front end.

I don't understand why people buy the car just to covert it and do all this crap to it that should have bought the car with in the first place. Waste of time and money, IMO.
97-98 are very hard to find in 5 spd. Also, the 5 spd swap is a biatch and if you pay the shop to do it it is $$$$. Unless you are a rich, spoiled, little Cali brat, I think you should go with the 5th gen sh in pearl white or san marino red. |

97-98s are running about 8-10k.
Get a 95-96 for 5k. Converting to manual is about 500 in parts alone. He doesn't seem like he knows much about it, so he would probably take it to a shop. That is 2k+ parts and labor rapage. So what's that like 7k now? Ok, so now time for the front end. That's another k. And of course you have to make sure everything is done right and parts are painted. Total? About 8-10k. Time and labor and trouble? Not worth it. Just get a 95-96 and keep it that way. |

So get a manual 95 instead of an auto to avoid the swap. Finding an S14b isn't nearly as hard as finding an S14a. And a 98 is about $12k in CA, which is where he's located.

When I was searching for a car about 2 months ago, I was able to find at least two 97/98 240's. There was only one problem with both of them, under the car was rust to hell. Both cars must have been from states where they lay salt down when it snows. Anyways I have noticed that there are a few in southern cali...
