I was driving and the car just shut off randomly. All the electronics still work. There were no sign or symptoms of the motor having problems before. The car cranks but doesn't start. I checked my spark plugs and they spark. So i don't know if it could be a fuel or compression issue. I check the ecu and its shows nothing was wrong. When it cranks it backfires a little and when i pushed start it backfired a little bit too. Also, do you think it would have to do something with the timing chain? The car is a 1992 if that helps.

Have you checked the "eng cont" engine control fuse under the hood? My car did that and it drove me nuts, checked the fuses and that's what it was.

the engine cont fuse is good and i check all the other fuse are good. I dont hear fuel pump when i put the key on the on position but I had a mechanic spray carb cleaner in the intake and the car didnt start.
