very cool. The only disadvantage I could think of with this setup is the added rotational mass with the extended turbo shaft, but that's probably not even a problem with the mgu-h

It gets even more crazy with the way the MGUH works. It's basically 1 way clutches so they can be disengaged to electrically spool the turbo (thus eliminating lag) much more efficiently than the renault setup where they have to spool both housings. They also can disengage the compressor side and run the motor at full throttle under braking to harvest electrical energy. It's so amazing and simple.

This technology will change everything as the biggest problem the current hybrid cars like the prius have is freeway cruising as they don't harvest any electricity unless they are braking.

What did you guys think of the race? I feel bad for Massa, that bullshit pitstop cost him a possible sixth place. Overall though a cool race, It's great to see Ferrari making a comeback..

Ya Maclaren actually seems to have actually come with some cool stuff in this department with the new SP1 Supercar.

On the race it was not bad but no comparison to the last one . Lol it was interesting to watch Vettel ignore team orders once again but wind up having to submit after tire degradation.
It's also fascinating to learn that Red Bull actually has been building cars to suit Vettel's driving style at the expense of the other drivers in the past. There were comments about how Vettel was not getting along with the new chassis but Riccardo loves it and is going very fast with it. Apparently the same thing happened a few years ago and Webber got along well and they they changed the design to better suit Vettel. It does show the claim of favoritism at Red Bull is quite true and one wonders if they will now change the chassis to better suit Vettel yet again at Riccardo's expense. At least Riccardo has proven he will not let Vettel push him around or be awed by his record.

Listening to a lot of podcast and commentary opinion and what a lot of people are saying is that since the blown diffuser and coranda exhaust have been outlawed that the cars (especially the redbull) have a lot less downforce and Vettle is having a lot of trouble with it while Ricciardo is used to driving a car with less downforce so he's doing rather well. It's good to see Vettle have a teammate that can battle him.

This. Even if they design a car that would favor Vettle for next year (more downforce or what not), I think Riccardo is still capable of getting the best of him.

Great race though, good to see Ferrari up there. Disappointing that Grosjean couldn't finish, that guy is a beast driving, look how he got that turd to Qualy 3!

I expect for there to be a lot of battling in the midfield next race as I think Williams, Force India and Lotus will have a stronger showing.

I can't wait for Spain. Catalunya is a absolutely fantastic track and Alonso always finds something extra in front of the home crowd.

What a crazy start to china.... I'm surprised Fernando and Nico did not get any penalties for hitting the Williams. The way they are handing out penalties this year seems very harsh and at times stupid. After watching the replays of both incidents I'm left wondering how the race directors did not give even a drive through for avoidable contact. Anyways thought the race was pretty good but yea msnbc sucks compared to sky or even when it was on speed channel. I guess Leigh Diffey is not the right commentator for me, I prefer Bob Varsha. What I hate the most is when they switch to commercials and only open a small window because they need to show commercials. Luckily I've found a solution, the spanish station Univision also broadcast F1 and on time (msnbc is a few seconds delayed) plus they don't do the little stupid window. They only post the commercial brands on the sides or underneath. So the picture barely gets shrunk down plus they don't take away the sound. Anyways Force India and Red Bull scored points so I'm happy.

Personally I fee the opposite no love lost on not having Bob Varsha around or the horrid way Speed started handling F1 under the Fox banner. When it was Speed Channel,it was dope but Fox destroyed it. NBCS has been doing a great job in my opinion. Plus Varsha was a commentator that would say so of the dumbest shit because he had no real motorsports experience. Everyone one the broadcast team now has either been a race car driver or worked on F1 crews. All knowledgable commentators.

I actually prefer the NBCSN broadcast to the SkyF1 now. I'm catching the live feeds of FP1 and FP3 for SkyF1, but the small talk on SkyF1 grows thin on me after a while. Maybe its their style? I dunno. I like it better when it was on BBC.

In other news it seems the race actually ended early

Guess spectators aren't too thrilled with the quietness of current cars... but on TV the racing is great, i think its awesome to hear the mechanical sounds of the cars, tire squealing and lock ups etc.

But they want to do something about making the cars more visually entertaining

Monaco was the first race I was able to watch this year. Very pleased to see Vettel being minimized. Digging the competition his teammate is giving Lewis & Nico. Loving the drama developing between two old friends like Lewis & Nico.I wish more races would get aired on network tv. My internet speed sucks too bad to stream it.
